📱 iPhone 17 leak reveals major changes for Apple

A reliable leaker, Ice Universe, recently shared on Weibo the details on what models will be released with the next next year’s batch of iPhones, including their screen sizes and prices.

In the last few months, rumors have been circulating about a possible iPhone 17 Slim model, which could be the most expensive iPhone yet, according to Ice Universe's recent claims. In fact, it's expected to be priced higher than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, at a staggering $1,299. Although it's more expensive than both the Pro models, its 6.65-inch screen would actually place it between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Other details about the iPhone 17 Slim suggested by the reliable leaker include an A19 chip, 8GB of RAM, aluminum chassis and a dual rear camera system. The latter’s interesting because one would expect a top-of-the-line iPhone to offer the same triple camera arrangement that was seen in prior Pro models.

Another interesting detail revealed in the new report is that all four models will feature LTPO displays that would enable ProMotion technology to deliver a variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz. This would be a significant upgrade for the least expensive model, the iPhone 17, primarily because the lowest-priced model in the range has been limited to 60 Hz.

There is still a considerable amount of time left until the iPhone 17 range is expected to be unveiled in 2025. Considering the rumors regarding an iPhone Ultra model, the iPhone 17 Slim may very well turn out to be the case.

🆕 Apple has released new 'betas' for its systems

In addition to iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 received the update. All of them got the fourth beta versions for developers.

There small changes to a number of features throughout the operating system in this beta, but Apple is continuing to refine existing settings and design choices. So, what’s new for iOS 18 beta 4?

CarPlay Wallpapers

New Light Mode and Dark Mode wallpaper options for CarPlay, and the new wallpaper mirrors the wallpapers that have been added on the iPhone.

Settings
A new way to access iCloud settings in the Settings app. There's now an ‌iCloud‌ option paired with App Store, Game Center, and Wallet. ‌iCloud‌ settings can still be accessed by tapping on your Apple Account and choosing ‌iCloud‌ from that interface.

Camera Controls
There is a new "Controls Menu" option under Preserve Settings in the Camera section of the Settings app, . The Controls Menu preserves the previously used camera tool when expanding the controls menu rather than showing the full list of camera control options when using the Camera app.

Dark Mode/Light Mode Icons
The ‌Dark Mode‌ and Light Mode icons are now appropriately synced to the Light and ‌Dark Mode‌ settings on the ‌iPhone‌ when you use the "Automatic" setting under Customize.

Hidden Folder
Apple has changed the design of the Hidden folder in the App Library. Rather than showing an icon of an eye with a line through it, it is now blanked out app squares, which makes it stand out less.

iPhone Mirroring
This is a macOS Sequoia feature more than an ‌iOS 18‌ feature, but when using ‌iPhone‌ Mirroring with ‌macOS Sequoia‌ beta 4, you can change the size of the ‌iPhone‌ window on your Mac's display.

Control Center
There's a new Control Center toggle for Bluetooth, but it is not yet working. Apple also added a Silent Mode/Mute toggle and an Accessibility Eye Mirroring option.

AssistiveTouch
There are new Type to Siri and Apple Watch Mirroring options available for AssistiveTouch.

Apple Intelligence
It is still continuing to prepare to implement Apple Intelligence in the beta in the not too distant future.

🆕 detail about the iPhone 17 Slim and alleged specifications for the iPhone SE4

Earlier, we reported that the iPhone 17, which is scheduled to be released next year, would not only be the thinnest smartphone from Apple, but also the most expensive.

Now, it has become known that in order to achieve this record-breaking thickness, cameras will be sacrificed, and the phone will only have one module, instead of the two or three that are customary in other Apple smartphones. This will result in a body thickness of only 5 millimeters.

The iPhone SE4, which is expected to launch in spring 2025, will feature a more modern design and an OLED display with 60H support. Its price is estimated to be between $500 and $550.

🤔 Although this information comes from reputable sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Ice Universe, it should still be taken with caution.

🔬 Apple to open a new lab in Shenzhen to test the iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro under extreme conditions

🥼 The new lab in Shenzhen is expected to boost Apple's research capabilities. The new facility will focus on testing new materials and production techniques, ensuring that the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro can withstand extreme conditions, from intense physical activity to harsh temperatures.

📍 The choice of Shenzhen is significant due to its proximity to many of Apple's suppliers. Apple first announced plans for the new lab in March. Despite diversifying its production capacity to other countries like Vietnam and India, China remains a key manufacturing hub for Apple. The new Shenzhen facility is part of a broader expansion, which includes research and development centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou.

💸 Apple has invested over 1 billion yuan (approximately $138 million) in these facilities.
