While ordinary users are mastering the new iOS 📱, changing the color of icons and figuring out what other controls can be added to the Control Center, developers are looking for Apple Intelligence features into the system more and more.

🔎 What's new?

⚙️ Even more controls in Control Center – it's now possible to display more widgets for the “connectivity and connections” category separately (like wi-fi and vpn, as in the video). There is also an option to reset Control Center to default in Settings.

⚙️ New controls also started appearing for third-party apps updated with iOS 18 support.

🔓 The Quick Note button for the lock screen has reappeared in the widget gallery.

☁️ Front Camera in iPhone 16 models can be enabled by swiping after the ultra-wide camera.

📖 Notes has a new button to invoke Apple Intelligence Writing Tools – paraphrasing and summarization.

💼 Messages on iPhone 15 Pro and 16 series has a new welcome screen with Apple Intelligence chips.

🪞 The ability to Drag&Drop files between iPhone and Mac using iPhone Mirroring is present.

🦾 The software is about 1GB and it is possible that this is not all the innovations of iOS 18.1 beta 5 and the list will be supplemented.

📱 Owners of iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have started complaining about missing screen touch recognition

💬 More and more users of Apple's latest flagships have started to report that the iPhone periodically fails to recognize touch on the display. Most likely, the problem is software and is related to a very sensitive setting of the false-touch protection features.

📱 The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have the thinnest bezels of any iPhone model of all time, so Apple implemented such a feature so that taps on the edges of the display would not cause accidental presses.

📱 It turned out that when the protection is triggered, the screen can lose sensitivity for a fraction of a second across the entire surface, causing taps to stop being recognized. The problem is current on iOS 18 and iOS 18.1 beta. Apple has not yet commented on it.

⌚️ Apple has shortchanged the new Watch Series 10: some users are disappointed

📰 Apple has taken the unexpected step of depriving Watch Series 10 users of the popular watch faces available only on the Ultra models, causing a wave of disappointment. This is reported by 9to5Mac.

⌚️ At launch, the Apple Watch Ultra featured exclusive watch faces – Modular and Wayfinder – that instantly won acclaim for their rich information display and flexible customization. As the company explained, these designs were made possible by the Ultra's larger display, which opened up new horizons of functionality.

⌚️ However, on September 9, when the world saw the Apple Watch Series 10, users were faced with an unpleasant surprise: the new watch was missing those handy faces. While there are no technical hurdles to adding them, Apple decided to keep them exclusive to the Ultra. This decision seems to be a marketing move – now users will have to invest in a more expensive model to get all the features.

📒 No one notices it, but it's there – one of Apple's most thoughtful apps in terms of functionality

✏️ Not so long ago (with the release of iOS 17.2), the Journal app appeared among Apple's apps. Apple has been actively caring about the health of its users for quite a long time. If earlier the main emphasis was on some physiological indicators, then here they also touched on mental health.

🔔 In fact, Journal is a universal thing, which with certain settings can remind you and tell you how your life is going by referring to photos, location and more; widgets even give a hint about what you can think about at the end of the day.

👍 Apple has done a good job with the app's functionality: for example, you can protect your diary with a passcode and Face ID, and if you turn on recommendations when you first start Journal, you'll see several questions, for each of which you can create an answer in a separate post, and even a selection of photos from the Photos app. By default, any post is pinned to the current date, but if you forgot about it yesterday, you can change the date. And of course, the ability to record audio is pleasing.

🧘‍♂️ This kind of reflection helps you disconnect from social networks and messengers and allows you to be alone with yourself a little more.
