Before diving into his biotechnology studies at ITMO, Xie is already exploring a new language, a new culture, and the science behind life itself. Thoughtful and passionate, he’s preparing for his Master’s by asking big questions about how humans are built. As he puts it:

Since childhood, I dreamed of being a doctor, helping people and understanding how the human body works. (…) It amazes me that every person, no matter how different, is built from the same fundamental units of life. (…) That sense of mystery and beauty is what drew me to biotechnology.

Gold for ITMO at ICPC 2025! 🥇

Competing against 341 top teams across St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Almaty, and Tbilisi, students Andrei Matveev, Ildar Gainullin, and Kirill Konovalov from team Spb ITMO: HFTilted solved 9 out of 13 problems to secure the win at the ICPC Northern Eurasia Finals 2025.

The team was coached by Mikhail Perveev, an ITMO alumnus and ICPC Northern Eurasia Finals gold medalist (2023) — keeping ITMO traditions alive, one win at a time!
