I am posting people's feedback here so everyone can see the technology I've been pointing you towards, i.e., Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating system, are great. Honestly it's been good among people who use it for a long time, and as you can see, the universe of people who work with it is many times larger than "just me."

I think I'm one of the only people loudly promoting it among conservative political circles at the moment but it needed to be done. It's a legitimate message that happens to have renewed importance at the moment but will also stand the test of time. More Patriots should get involved in promoting FOSS and Linux. Feel free to start a channel like this one, I won't mind. I will continue to help people discover all of it, others should do the same. It is good for all of us. FOSS is truly Digital Freedom, with some time you will see how true that statement is.

I am 68 years of age. In 3 days since coming to Jeffrey Peterson on T, starting with an online course, learning about Linux from tue fellow given credit as its creator, purchased a 32 G stick and plan to download and then use a Linux based program recommended to me by a friend I haven’t seen in 10 years who told me about Linux 12 years ago. After coming here, I gave him a call. Great reunion. Steady and confident because of the continuing team of Linux enthusiasts I didn’t know existed until three days ago. Thank you all of you. Best of it all to you all. May God continue to bless everyone’s efforts in their endeavors. MW

Woke up today to a bunch of emails from people asking to further discuss what was mentioned on last night's voice call about setting up your own private email server with Linux. We will talk more about that tonight!
Friends, we are working together here, in good faith, to help everyone with technology. It's not a competition or an argument. I agree with those of you who are pointing out in comment threads that "no email is completely private." That is a reasonable thing to say. It is a simple reality that email is a necessary part of most of our lives and has been, and will be, for a long time--and certain email services are more private, or work better, than others. You can say "I'm going to give up and stop using technology." That is fine. I'm not sure how realistic that is for many of us but I understand your frustration.

We can all agree at this point that Google and Gmail are some of the worst privacy abusers out there. As we discussed on last night's call, Gmail scans all the text of your email box and uses that info to (at a minimum) target you with ads. Who knows what else they are doing with the text of your emails. On last night's call, I pointed out that protonmail is funded by the European Union. That doesn't seem great either but I believe them to be less abusive than Gmail. I could be wrong about that. Is the European Union spying on Americans? I have no idea. We are in crazy times. That is why I keep saying to take back as much control over your technology, yourself, as you possibly can.

It is true that if you learn to use Linux and opensource, you can learn to set up your own private, remote email server that you have full control over. That is proven and well documented. It is a fairly technical undertaking that would take some time to learn. Too technical for many beginners. And yes it does not mean the emails you send to other people will be secure but you would have full control over your own private server and your data. I respect everyone's contributions to productive discussions. Appreciate all of you very much. We will discuss more tonight. Let's do our best to keep up the positive energy. Negativity gets us nowhere.

That's one way. I decided years ago I didn't want my data in anybody's cloud other than my own so I got a Synology NAS. I also host my own email on it too

Maybe the few of us who are more technical can set up private servers for multiple beginners to use?

Thanks Jeff. Great points. The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Friends, if you get a moment today, please say thanks to two of our great admins, Will and Frank, who have been volunteering countless hours of their time to answer people's questions about Linux and opensource, and to keep our technology chat room free from the spam and trolls that have been hitting us in recent days. Will and Frank are great American Patriots who are experienced technology pros. They are great guys, not being paid for their work, helping out of the kindness of their hearts because they believe in what we are teaching here. Appreciate both of you very much.

Is there a more desirable/ America-focused wireless carrier? I’ve been on Verizon for 28 years. Tired of giving a LOT of money to woke communists.
Friends, look at what we have accomplished in only two weeks. Together, we built a unique online community of American Patriots interested in technology, working together to take back our freedom from the "big tech" overlords.

We are realistic and honest about expectations in this journey. We know it will not happen overnight nor will it take "too long." We understand our new technology community is not a competition or about arguing with each other. Patriots here have nothing to prove. We are only here to help each other. Elitists will not fit well in this community.

We know our journey will take hard work and focus but we also know Americans have never been afraid of hard work when it is explained to us in a clear and reasonable way that we can agree with. And that is what we are here to do. We are here to contribute our technical knowledge, to explain, and most of all, help each other learn so together we can chart the right path forward in our journey to Digital Freedom.

Thank you Jeffrey, Will & Frank. This has quickly become my favorite channel! Got Ubuntu installed & playing with it. Seems to offer all the functionality needed (except for windows gaming). Now looking to learn command line stuff & considering a Raspberry Pi to play with. Learning so much from this channel!
Here is a great example of what's possible with the knowledge you're getting from this channel. In the above video, they got an older (year 2012) MacBook Pro from Craigslist for $150, installed Manjaro Linux (removing MacOS) and it worked perfect on Linux, even with the GPU and video editing. All of that and free from opaque "big-tech" operating systems, bloatware and spyware. Imagine, an extra MacBook Pro on your desktop, for pennies on the dollar, free from "big tech," all possible because of your new knowledge of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) and Linux. 👍🇺🇸

That’s good to hear, PinePhone is still very much in infancy stages of development. Checking into Ubuntu Touch options and other ones out there as well. Wife and I want to get off of iOS devices.

I am running on a machine of mine, Jeff, thank you for the push… the information and people here have been greatly helpful.
Friends, thank you so much for your patience as we are completely overwhelmed with your emails. Working through them one by one. Will do our best to reply to everything you've sent in the past few days. At the moment we are still catching up with emails from last weekend. Appreciate all of you very much.

Welcome to freedom. The DH and I set my beautiful 2012 ASUS gaming laptop free (Ubuntu/Win8 dual) last night. I think by end of this year, I will dump Win8 forever.
