I don't care much about the "real shooter". But what I do care about is that the alternate camera angles DEBUNK Kirk being shot in the neck.
Here, we can see his shirt jump up and then pump out blood. NO WOUNDS ON THE NECK.
Also, if you were shot in the neck, nicking an artery (no guarantee of that), you wouldn't immediately keel over dead the way he seems to in the video—it would be quick, but not that quick. He would most likely still be awake, conscious, upright, and beginning to bleed out through the artery. He would most likely put his hand to his neck. He'd stay up for 5-10 seconds, net of any emergency first aid clamping, before pretty much dying.

They say the shooting was done with a Mauser bolt action hunting rifle using a 30-06 caliber round.
Here's a great comparison of balistic bullet impact on Charlie's neck and pork and a balistic gel realistic model of a human head. Just to show how big a difference the bullet entry impacts had on Charlie's neck, and a big lump of pork, and a balistic gel model.
These first two videos show slow motion impact of a caliber 30-06 bullet same a Kirk was shot with.
Vid 1. With 30-06 caliber impact on a balistic gel model resembling realistic texture, weight and size of a human head.
