This for example is is called a fork bomb. It creates a function : that calls itself twice recursively (:|:), and runs in the background (&). Once you invoke it with : at the end, it duplicates itself infinitely until your system runs out of resources. Don't try this though it will crash your system. Been digging into MongoDB pagination lately and wow, .skip() is a silent killer. Turns out when you do something like .skip(1000).limit(20), Mongo actually scans 1020 docs and just tosses the first 1000 away. Use Cursor-based pagination (aka keyset pagination) instead.
