I think sometimes people assume I’ve got it all figured out, and some even call me “successful.” Honestly, I don’t know what gives off that impression, maybe it’s my presence in the community, or a few podcasts here and there. But the truth is, my life is far from neatly put together. It’s messy, challenging, and I’m still figuring out my path.

In our country, success is often defined as landing a remote software role, getting paid in dollars, or moving abroad. And I deeply respect anyone who achieves that, because doing so with the limited resources here in Ethiopia is incredibly tough. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some of that myself at a young age, and I do appreciate it, both in myself and in others who’ve made it happen.

But for me, that’s not the ultimate version of success. I’m not chasing some external definition of it. What drives me is studying greatness, pushing myself, and being just a little better than who I was yesterday. That’s all.

Hey you guys, I built a web app called Dotune to help you discover new artists and fresh tracks. It uses the Spotify API to access your saved songs and LastFM API to find similar tracks. Any new songs not already in your library are added to your recommendations, giving you fresh music to enjoy.

Sad news tho, Due to Spotify’s updated policy (as of May 15, 2025), the API now only supports Extended Quota mode for organizations, limiting individual accounts to 25 users in development mode. If you want to try it, fill out this form and get your playlist.

Access is first come, first serve, only the first 25 users will be able to have Dotune access their saved tracks and generate a playlist.

This year has been all about reflection, spending countless hours analyzing myself, people and life in general. I have done a lot of spiritual and emotional healing Even ChatGPT suggested I tone down the reflection and focus more on doing, lol. Next year will be all about action.
