Shaykh 'Abdullah as-Sa'd:

"It's upon the seeker of knowledge to begin, in regard to studying the matters of 'aqīdah and tawhīd, with the book al-Qawā'id al-Arba', followed by Thalāthat-al-Usūl, then Kashf-ash-Shubuhāt, and then Kitāb at-Tawhīd. And the four of them are by Muhammad ibn 'Abd-al-Wahhab, rahimahullahu ta'ālā.

Then, in what relates to the pillars of al-īmān and al-asmā was-sifāt, with the book al-'Aqīdah al-Wāsitiyyah by ibn Taymiyyah, rahimahullah.

Then he reads what Allah makes easy for him of the books of creed, and especially al-Hamawiyyah, at-Tadmuriyyah, Sharh al-Asbahāniyyah, and the first [few] volumes from Majmū' al-Fatāwā of ibn Taymiyyah and from ad-Durar as-Saniyyah of the imāms of the da'wah ('ulama of Najd)."

Shaykh al-'Allāmah Sulaymān al-'Alwān advised that tullāb al-'ilm memorise one or two matn in each of the Islamic sciences and he mentioned examples of what one may memorise:

Tawhid: al-Usūl ath-Thalāthah, Kitab at-Tawhīd, al-'Aqīdah al-Wāsitiyyah.

Hadith: al-Arba'īn an-Nawawiyyah, then 'Umdat-al-Ahkām, and then Bulūgh-al-Marām.

Usūl al-fiqh: al-Waraqāt, then Marāqi as-Sa'ūd or it's abdrigment.

Qawā'id al-Fiqh: The Mandhūmah of as-Sa'di.

Mustalah al hadīth: al-Bayqūniyyah.

Nahw: al-Ajurumiyyah, then Qatr-an-Nadā or Mulhat-al-I'rāb, then The Alfiyyah of ibn Mālik....or if one goes from al-Ajurumiyyah to Alfiyyah directly there is no harm in that, but going step by step is desirable.

Fiqh: ad-Durar al-Bahiyyah by ash-Shawkāni.

Usūl-at-Tafsir: Muqaddimah of ibn Taymiyyah.
