Origin:
The verb comes from noun 'чума' [ chuma ] (plague). Originally it meant 'to infect with the plague', but over time the meaning changed to 'to be unable to think clearly'.

Colloquial:
те <- тебе (to/for you)
вишь <- видишь! (you see!)
