🔻In the 1960s, Soviet chips (without glutamate) were made from potatoes.

🔻The ingredients included only potatoes and salt. There were no additives.

🔻First they were called 'чибсы' not 'чипсы' and recommended to go with beer🍺.

🔻 There's a modern version of Soviet chips (pic 3).

🟠 If you happen to argue with an angry Russian, you'll most probably hear a colloquial expression like:

Порвать, как Тузик грелку (colloquial)
[ parvat' kak Tuzik grelku ]

SLT: To tear apart like Tuzik (a dog) rips apart a rubber hot- water bottle

Meaning:
To tear into pieces easily, to smash someone, to tear to shreds

🔻This figurative expression means that someone can destroy or win someone and will do it as easy and fast as a dog will tear a medical rubber hot water bag (which is called "грелка" in Russia) into pieces.

🔻These words are not always rude, they often have ironic sense.

Я тебя порву, как Тузик грелку!
[ ya tib'a parvu kak tyzik grelku ]
🇬🇧 I'll easily kick your ass!

Палехская роспись
  [ palekhskaya rospis' ]

🔻Palekh lacquer miniature is a relatively young folk craft. After the 1917 Revolution, it was taken up by talented artists, former icon painters and masters of temple paintings from the village Palekh in Ivanovo Region.

🔻Artists focused their skills on "ancient painting". They depicted scenes from folk tales and works of literature, using the iconographic techniques.

🔻In the Palekh style, on a black background with bright red and gold colours, artists now paint mostly decorative items: often jewelry caskets or small souvenirs.

🔻Gena the crocodile's song hit the top of German YouTube.

🔻Rapper Liaze, Russian by origin, mixed his track with the cult Soviet single. The video immediately went viral online.

🤔 Can anyone tell me what he is singing about in German?

The original song is from a Soviet cartoon about Cheburachka.👇

One more interjection starting with 'Ё':

Ёшкин кот!
  [ yoshkin kot ]

🔻Some researchers believe that the word “ёшкин” could have originated from “ёжкин,” that is, literally:
"бабки-ёжки кот"
Baba Yaga's cat

Бабка-ёжка <- баба-яга
Baba Yaga is a character from Russian fairy tales.

😍Today, more than 50 cats live in the Hermitage!

🔻The history of the fluffy inhabitants of the Hermitage dates back to the 18th century, when Peter I settled here the cat Vasily, which was brought by him from Holland.

🔻Catherine II gave cats the status of guards of art galleries and since then they have been protecting masterpieces of world art from rats.

🔻In the 18th century, by decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, a whole batch of cats from Kazan appeared in the Hermitage.

🔻There is a tradition of giving the Hermitage cats the names of great artists.
