First-time watcher . Just finished S1E9 & S1E10 and I’m losing my mind.
I am so obsessed with this show. Like, I knew Lost had mysteries, but holy hell, things are getting crazy. Sayid's backstory was so heartbreaking and the thing with Nadia had me emotional.
He met the French woman though, holy shit. It felt surreal to see her when they were talking about her several episodes earlier. She’s out here living in a jungle hideout, casually torturing Sayid like it’s just another Tuesday. And everything she said… the whispers, the “sickness,” her whole team being gone?? I have so many questions and zero answers. I don’t know if she’s paranoid or if she’s the only one who actually knows what’s going on. Also seriously… Rousseau said “they’re coming”… That gave me chills, I'm very afraid to find out who she's referring to. Also, that music box moment hit me way harder than I expected. Just such a weird, sad little scene.
The next episode though..... freaked me out. Claire’s dreams?? Straight out of a horror movie. And that psychic — WHAT?! That entire plotline had me spiraling. The way he insisted she had to raise her baby, then suddenly changed his mind and gave her a plane ticket on this exact flight? No way that’s a coincidence. Something is seriously up. I'm assuming that man is a part of something sinister.
AND THEN THE END. I literally shouted when Hurley checked the manifest and Ethan’s name wasn’t on it. I KNEW he was shady. That last scene where he shows up in the jungle seeing Claire and Charlie actually scared me and now they've gone missing / kidnapped. Oh God please let those two characters survive, they've become my favorite.
Starting episode 11 soon.
So if I'm going to summarize this I'm just going to say i’m already so invested in these characters and every time I think I have a handle on what’s going on, it throws another curveball.

What did I just watch!
I just finished watching LOST.
I have watched maybe two seasons about 10-15 years ago, and for whatever reason I didn't continue.
I did it this time. Binge watched the whole six seasons in about 18 days.
Now that I finished watching it, I feel sad. And I feel lonely. The ending was very emotional, and I feel like a part of me is gone and I never felt this watching another series or movie.
I feel like something is missing now that it is finished. I don't know what.
A masterpiece of a series.

Little Boy Hugo
I just watched the episode with Hurley as a child and was blown away by the way the actor's expressions and mannerisms were so spot-on. Almost seemed like he actually was a little boy Hugo

What gives Lost an edge over every other show is the non linear story telling. We get such an in depth look into every character and end up caring deeply about even the randomest of people. I care very deeply about Scott and Steve and I can't differentiate them.

Libby
I’m sure this has been posted before, but I’m new here and just finished the show. I mean what was the point of Libby? What was the point of her posing as a “clinical psychologist?” Why was she on the plane from Sydney? Why did they make it out to seem like she had some secret motive or whatever. Why wasn’t she honest to Hugo about her knowing him? Did they just drop more of her storyline lol

First Time Watcher...Forever Fan
I just watched Lost for the very first time and finished them all about 2 weeks ago. I had to come to this forum now because I'm starting to miss all the characters. I couldn't come to this forum before I finished because I really didn't want to see any spoilers and ruin that fantastic "ride" of seeing that show.
I understand there were pretty mixed feelings for the ending. Not to brag, but my theory of how this was to wrap up came to me around Season 2. I think the ending fit my theory pretty closely and I wasn't surprised by how it ended up. I think this is probably the best series I've ever watched. WILL watch again.

Is hating Michael’s Character standard for watching this show?
I just finished season one and I am onto season two. Michael is by far the most idiotic and unreasonable character. His backstory is fine, even good in most parts, but the way he acts and interacts with the other survivors on the island and on the raft is ludicrous. It’s like he has no sense of logical reasoning.
Does anyone else feel this way? Does his character ever get any better?

My First TV Love
Been scrolling recently on Reddit for TV show recommendations and this sub popped up.
Haven’t watched Lost in it’s entirely for I’d guess about a decade.
But just seeing people still posting and discussing the show after all this time reminded me how much LOST means and meant to me.
It is THE reason I love TV shows. It was the first show that ever made me feel anything other than entertainment towards something on TV.
Remember feeling genuinely emotionally connected to all the characters, the mystery, the intrigue. I remember vividly watching season 1 and 2 for the first time and I was genuinely distraught for a few days after (won’t ruin for new viewers) when certain characters passed. As sad as it sounds, by season 3 the characters felt like family. I remember watching season 5 and 6 when they first aired and literally counting down the days for a new episode.
In hindsight has its flaws, and as time’s gone on for me I’ve definitely found shows that I feel are more complete, polished and ‘better’ as a whole.
But just wanted to post here to say that LOST is something that every TV show lover should watch and experience. I can honestly say that it changed the way I view TV. I’ll never, ever forget how this show affected me

Matthew Fox acting intensity saving Charlie "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues"
Spoiler Alert to newbies watching S1. I gotta say I don't watch LOST much anymore but just enjoyed Jack/Kate saving Charlie scene. What a rare triumphant moment on a show that seldom gives us moments like this. Wowza, from a clinical observation Matthew Fox's artistic range is just unrivaled in that scene He is fully committed to that moment and understandably is a rare talent and why I could never imagine anyone playing Jack Shephard. For me he is the GOAT amongst a great ensemble of complimentary characters. Props to Matthew Fox.

Mid season 5, is Ben a good guy?
Locke and Ben have slowly become my two favorite characters in this entire show. There’s parts where I think Ben still has an ulterior motive, but I’m starting to just like the guy lmao. Just watched the scene where John is standing in the table about to hang himself and Ben comes in and saves him. Lmao as I was writing this Ben just strangled him to death, I may be wrong🤣🤣

I just finished watching Lost for the 4th time I think...
... and I still think it's the best series of all time, with the perfect ending. I'm still crying as I write this, but unfortunately, I only have the internet to tell you these things because none of my friends are fans of the series. So here I am catharsis with you.
Stay safe and see you on the other side, mates.

Jack Shepherd and the song “Human Sadness” by The Voidz
SPOILERS AHEAD
Okay so I have done an analysis on this song before. But as I was watching Lost, especially now recently finishing the finale, I have realized that Jack Shepherd is quite literally the embodiment of this song. If you have not listened to this song by the Voidz, you should. It is 10 minutes long but so beautiful.
“Human Sadness” is speculated to be about the singer’s (Julian Casablancas) father and the rough relationship as he grieves his death. His father was speculated to be an alcoholic and have affairs which affected the songwriter’s childhood. Jack had a similar upbringing. I cannot go through the entire song because it is extremely long (If you want the full analysis, I have it posted on my profile). However, there were some parts of the song that really stood out to me and represented Jack’s situation throughout the whole show.
First of all, Rumi’s quote that is used in the song:
“Beyond all ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I will be meeting you there”.
This quote is essentially stating that after death, there is a place we are going to go where nothing good or bad we did before matters. Their meeting after death will transcend the human experience and they will together just BE. In the finale, Jack literally meets his father in the after life (still get emotional thinking of it). Regardless of either one of their rights or wrongs, they are there together. That scene is exactly what I imagine and is the perfect visual of that lyric and quote.
Another part of the song I felt really resonated with Jack was this:
“And I never wanna spell it out
I just wanna say that it is all my fault
I could never spit it out
I don't wanna fix your tie”
Jack is driven by guilt a lot of the time. He blames himself for his father’s death and takes responsibility for too much and that goes for his relationship with his dad too. The part about the tie symbolizes a son being pressured by a parent to do better, be better. The songwriter’s father was a very successful wealthy man and he pressured his son to do the same. That constant pressure is something Jack has had to deal with in his life due to his father and their careers as surgeons so I felt like it fits.
Finally, this line at the end of the song also stood out:
“All is LOST
I'll find my way
I say to be is not to be
To be is not the way to be”
This part of the song represents letting go and even though having a difficult father may have made someone feel lost, they will find their way and they can let go and trust it will work out. A huge theme in LOST was Jack’s struggle with letting go. But he was able to achieve this in the finale even though it was bittersweet and ended in his death. He let go and let it be. He found his way.
I hope this made sense. The thought just came to me while listening to the song today and I made the connection. So much more of this song reminds me of Jack so if you want the full rundown, it’s on my profile. I also think the song “Ode to the Mets” by The Strokes really resonates with Jack’s character in the same sense regarding his fatherly issues.

SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE
I finished the show yesterday and there's something im still cloudy about.
If the flash sideways in season 6 are supposed to be some form of purgatory, how are characters like Hurley, Kate, Sawyer, etc in the church if we technically never see them die? Everything ive read says that they're not all dead, idk but its been confusing me. I'm sorry if its a dumb question, and I bet the answer is right in front of me and I just don't understand, but it's just been throwing me off.

I have reached mid season two on our rewatch, and am reminded why Michael Emerson gives me the heebie jeebies even after 20 years and at least three other series. He is so good at being a creepy, manipulative bastard!
