Those natural resources include critical metals, in particular, uranium, titanium, lithium, graphite and other strategic and strategically valuable resources, worth of trillions of $US, to the US and EU in exchange for protection.

CNN got access to strike drone mission deep into Russia with Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency GUR. They allowed them to film everything from the planning to the launch. Only two people were authorized to speak on the record, and then only using their callsigns. Ukraine said their drones are effective but they need Western long range weapons and permission to use them to really make a difference.
One key thing: the Russians have excellent layered air defenses, the Ukrainians admit. Very hard to get past that.

Three reserve soldiers in Gaza, who spoke separately with Haaretz's Bar Peleg this week, told him that it's their impression that the Generals' Plan is being implemented in practice, even if the General Staff and Southern Command haven't officially adopted it. "The commanders say openly that the Eiland plan is being promoted by the IDF," a soldier from the 162nd Division said. A soldier from the 252nd Reserve Division, which is stationed in the Netzarim corridor, added: "The goal is to give the residents who live north of the Netzarim area a deadline to move to the south of the Strip. After this date, whoever will remain in the north will be considered an enemy and will be killed. It doesn't conform to any standard of international law.

If the 101 hostages haven't been mentioned until now, that reflects their appallingly low place in the order of the government's and the army's priorities. Top-ranking figures in the General Staff have no doubts: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a cold decision to abandon the hostages, about half of whom are apparently still alive, in the tunnels of Gaza.

UNIFIL statement (16 October 2024)

This morning, peacekeepers at a position near Kafer Kela observed an IDF Merkava tank firing at their watchtower. Two cameras were destroyed, and the tower was damaged.
 
Yet again we see direct and apparently deliberate fire on a UNIFIL position.
 
We remind the IDF and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times.

Many points in "Zelensky's" "victory plan" hint at a more direct Western intervention.
