The government will also work on privatising state-run industrial companies, which Basil Abdel Hanan said totalled 107 and were mostly loss making. However, he vowed to keep strategic energy and transport assets in public hands.

According to recent statistics, only 900,000 of 1.3 million public servants actually come to work, economy minister Mohammed Abazeed said, citing a preliminary review. He also stated that the new public administration would need only about 600,000 servants and he will work based on the Idlib model, which attracted more private investments.
