Un po’ di tempo fa ho scritto un articolo per la Stampa sulla monocoltura di WordPress (seguendo le regole editoriali del giornale che non vuole la “P” maiuscola perché all’interno della parola). Dire che non è piaciuto a una parte dei lettori è dire poco. A partire dalla “P” minuscola.
La lesa maestà WordPress, che invece è considerato “strumento di libertà”, è stata troppo grande da parte mia per non suscitare indignazione. Che ci volete fare: è impossibile far capire qualcosa a qualcuno il cui stipendio dipende dal non capire quella cosa. Pazienza. Però il tutto mi è tornato in mente leggendo l’articolo che cito qui.
The Missing Building Blocks of the Web di Anil Dash, Ceo di Fog Creek Software, fa un lungo ragionamento (paradossalmente su Medium) relativo alla trasformazione del web: una volta avrebbe dovuto essere popolato di micrositi fatti dai singoli magari con note pad o giù di lì, oggi questa idea è realistica come pensare a una città fatta di case costruite a mano da chi le abita. Meno di zero.
Però l’idea che ci stiamo perdendo pezzi del web come modo, e che fare una pagina sia diventato praticamente impossibile, a meno che non si usi (quasi) esclusivamente un software che fa tutto lui (cioè chi l’ha programmato), mi costringe a pensare due cose:
-ha ancora senso l’utopia dietro al software free e open secondo la quale tutto dovrebbero poter programmare con gli strumenti che utilizzano modificando, migliorando o aggiungendo nuovi strumenti?
-ci sono quelli che sono convinti che la Terra sia rotonda mentre in realtà è piatta: sono i topini che vivono prigionieri sopra una piattaforma credendo di toccare veramente il suolo digitale. Cambia la piattaforma e loro volano via. WordPress anyone?
