Ci sarebbero da fare tante riflessioni serie sulle città e ad esempio sulla funzione del trasporto pubblico. Però non c'è un'opinione pubblica formata perché, a mio avviso, non c'è dibattito e non c'è comunicazione indipendente. E questo è un male, decisamente un male.

Questo articolo riguarda una storia per noi aliena, quella del trasporto pubblico americano. Però è un esempio significativo e influente anche da noi, ahimé. Perché il nostro futuro va di nuovo in quella direzione: altro che aumentare le famiglie car-free (che secondo me dovrebbe essere un buon obiettivo di medio termine).

Below is a set of maps that show the present-day network rail and bus lines operating at least every 30 minutes, all day to midnight, seven days a week, for five urban areas in the U.S. and one in Canada for comparison. That could be considered the bare-minimum service level required for people to be able to live adequately car free. In fact, research says that frequencies of 15 minutes or better—good enough for people to turn up and go without consulting a schedule—are where the biggest jumps in ridership happen.
