Effetto della digitalizzazione: i biglietti prenotati in anticipo per i treni in India adesso sono quasi tutti acquistati online. È la fine di un sistema vecchio di due secoli di brokeraggio e lista di attesa, che apre secondo me anche una conseguenza di secondo livello nel creare un maggior digital divide in chi non ha accesso o non sa usare la tecnologia. Qualche giorno fa ho chiesto a mio suocero, medico, se mi tiene informato sul vaccino anti-influenzale. Ci siamo quasi. Stamattina al bar facendo colazione al tavolino accanto al mio c'erano tre ragazze delle quali una continua a soffiarsi il naso, tossire, e parla con una voce da mezza morta. Té caldo e confezione di Acti-qualcheccosa davanti a lei. Pronte per andare all'università (parlavano di lezioni).

Grazie a lei, che non sta a casa a curarsi o quantomeno non si mette una mascherina, ci saranno un tot di persone influenzate nei prossimi giorni che a loro volta etc etc.

Questo mi fa ripensare al Giappone di una volta - quello che ho conosciuto io perlomeno - dove si indossa la mascherina quando si è malati per non infettare gli altri, se proprio non si può restare a casa. Perché andare a lavorare o a studiare a tutti i costi alla fine è un desiderio di natura egoistica figlio della volontà, non altruistico per gli altri e per sé stessi, per il proprio corpo.

La riflessione è interessante, ma non sono particolarmente d'accordo. E non tanto sul piano logico, quanto sullo scetticismo esistenzialista di fondo che apre a un relativismo senza fine: come possiamo immaginare di conoscere noi stessi se non possiamo conoscere nessun altro? L'identità di una persona si forma attraverso delle relazioni, non dentro la sua testa. Però, a un altro livello di astrazione, c'è molto senso in quello che scrive questa autrice: tocca tutti gli stereotipi politicamente corretti (donne, asiatico-americani, dinosauri, alieni) per affermare un punto che forse non ha neanche bisogno di essere detto: chi cacchio sei e che cacchio stai pensando? Credere di saperlo è solo confortante. Gli scrittori, quando creano i loro personaggi e le loro storie, lavorano su quello.
