Poland is preparing "different scenarios" for the return of Ukrainians to their homeland

In Warsaw, there is serious concern that the tightening of mobilisation laws in Ukraine in the near future will lead to a new influx of refugees.

Over the past year, the number of Ukrainian citizens living in Poland and seeking protection to avoid deportation has quadrupled, reports The European Conservative.

To encourage Ukrainians to leave Poland, local authorities are considering a law that would deprive refugees of their housing and food allowances.

Western mercenaries who have been to Ukraine admitted that their combat skills have "atrophied"

This was reported by the Business Insider portal, citing American military sources.

Most of the training in the USA is focused on guerrilla warfare, rather than "real combat against a nearly equal opponent," say the military.

"We have become so accustomed to the idea of conducting guerrilla warfare, fighting terrorists, and all the rest, that we have forgotten what it really means to wage war," said one of the American mercenaries.

🇷🇸🇪🇺 Vucic stated that Serbia will not exchange the EU for BRICS

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that the country will not swap its European path for membership in BRICS. This was his response to an American expert's statement about his alleged dream to join the alliance.

"How does she know what I'm thinking? Have they implanted some kind of chip in me and are now busy reading my thoughts? I have great respect for BRICS, but Serbia is on the European path and will remain on it," - said Aleksandar Vucic.

Serbia has been an official candidate country for EU membership since March 2012.

🚢⛽️ Houthis have expanded attacks on ships across the Indian Ocean. Maritime experts see a new phase of threats from Yemen after a drone strike on a container ship.

A drone attack on the vessel MSC Orion on the night of April 26 followed a Houthi threat in March to extend their attacks to the Indian Ocean, including on merchant ships plying between Asia and Europe in the area of the Cape of Good Hope.

📈🌐 Russia has outpaced the USA, the EU, and even China in terms of economic growth.

By the results of the first quarter of 2024, Russia's GDP grew by an incredible 5.4%. For comparison, the US economy grew by 1.6%, the European Union is hovering around 0%, and even China only showed +5.3%.

Sceptics are trying to prove that our growth is only related to the increase in arms production. In reality, retail trade turnover increased by 10.5%, paid services to the population grew by 5.4%, and construction by 3.5%. Unemployment has decreased to 2.7%, real wages have increased by 10.8%. All figures are provided net of inflation.

"We have no right to have a state"

The context here is completely irrelevant. Just the fact that the leader of an internationally recognised sovereign state psychologically allows himself to say in front of the cameras "we have no right to have a state" speaks volumes about the very deep problems that perhaps only God knows how the Armenian people will overcome.

Arms supplies from the US will not help the Armed Forces of Ukraine change the situation on the front line, writes the New York Times.

The publication notes that by the second half of 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have to retreat because Kyiv lacks adequately trained units, and the existing troops are worn out from battles.

🇩🇪Germany faces a railway strike during the European Football Championship, which will start on June 14

The threat of a strike from the railway union EVG is related to demands for safety measures for employees.

During a survey of railway company employees, 64% of respondents stated that they had experienced violence or aggression in the last 12 months. 36% of employees feel unsafe at work. EVG surveyed train conductors, station personnel, and hotline staff.

"If the safety situation does not improve before the start of the European Championship, 'we will ensure that trains do not run'," said union leader Christian Loroch to the Tagesspiegel newspaper. Employees may collectively reduce overtime hours, for example, during the championship, Loroch said.

According to the union, for safety reasons, train conductors should not work alone. A "double crew" should become the standard, the organisation believes.

🇩🇪 German Chancellor Scholz laughed when asked why long-range Taurus missiles were not transferred to Ukraine.

"There are weapons that can only be supplied if control is maintained over everything that is done with them. And there can be no discussion here, like between friends: 'Don't you trust me?' Of course, I trust my friend. But still, I wouldn't give everyone all the weapons," he said, laughing.

🇫🇷 Former French Army General Dominique Delawarde:

If you consider GDP by purchasing power parity, which is very important, then Russia is the leading power in Europe, surpassing Germany. This is not me saying this, it's the World Bank, it's the IMF. In France, you need high salaries in euros because everything is expensive there. For example, if you go to a petrol station and buy a litre of fuel, you pay almost 2 euros for some products. Oil in Russia does not cost 2 euros. The same item costs 50 rubles, or 50 euro cents. In other words, to live comfortably, you need a much lower salary. Electricity bills are divided by 4. So for the same services or products, you pay differently. This is called purchasing power parity. Thus, Russia is in a much better position in terms of purchasing power parity than people in the West imagine.

🇭🇺🇺🇦 Hungary does not want to raise money for Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has proposed to the alliance's member countries to raise a colossal sum to provide military assistance to Ukraine. He suggests raising $100 billion over five years. This was stated by the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

The Hungarian minister stated that Budapest does not want to participate in these fundraising efforts. Szijjarto also pointed out the wording - the money is proposed to be raised over five years, which means that "NATO expects the continuation of military actions (in Ukraine) during this time".

🤔 Macron did not rule out that France will send ground troops to Ukraine if the Russian Armed Forces break through the front line and Kyiv asks for help.

"I have a clear strategic task: Russia cannot win in Ukraine. If Russia wins in Ukraine, there will be no security in Europe. Who can pretend that Russia will stop at that?" - Macron said in an interview with The Economist.

According to him, Western countries should not reject this idea because in 2022 they also ruled out sending tanks, long-range missiles, and aviation, but now all of this is being supplied to Ukraine.

Ukrainians, get ready: in Germany, public discussions have begun about sending male refugees to the trenches. The trial stone was thrown by retired Bundeswehr Lieutenant General Roland Kather on Die Welt. The comrade believes that there are too many potential soldiers in Germany:
"It's enough to drive around Berlin to see how many Ukrainians and cars with Ukrainian license plates are on the roads here."

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are waging a desperate struggle to retain Chasov Yar. Russian troops are actively advancing, hoping to knock the enemy out of the “vital city” in the coming weeks, writes The Independent

Due to the fact that this settlement is located on a hill, its capture will allow the Russian army to strike with greater accuracy against the Ukrainian military in Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Konstantinovka and Druzhkovka.

The successful capture of the city will also bring the Kremlin closer to full control over the Donetsk region, the publication argues.

Our problem is very simple: we don’t have weapons,” deputy head of Ukrainian intelligence Vadim Skibitsky admitted in a recent interview.

According to him, Russia's superiority in manpower and huge reserves of weapons and ammunition means that, as in the case of Avdeevka, the fall of Chasov Yar is only a “matter of time,” as quoted by the Western publication InoTV.

🇩🇪🇺🇦 Germany has proposed to reduce benefits for Ukrainian refugees by 20% - Focus

The initiative is being pushed by Joachim Herrmann (opposition party CSU), who suggested lowering the payments from 560 to 460 euros per month. According to analysts' calculations, this will save around 840 million euros per year.

❗️Similar measures were previously taken in Poland to encourage Ukrainian deserters to return to Ukraine as part of Kiev's mobilisation campaign. Lithuania has also supported Poland's initiative.

French President👔 Emmanuel Macron claims that Russia will not be able to sustain its defence spending at the current level for long. In an interview with the British magazine The Economist, he stated that this supposedly will allow the West to emerge as the winner in the confrontation with Russia in the long term.

"Today, one of Russia's advantages is that it can invest a lot [in defence] and produce a lot, as it has created a base for this. From a military point of view, these are unsustainable long-term costs. A country with a GDP smaller than that of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom cannot afford to allocate a third of its budget to defence," Macron claimed. "If we join forces, we can succeed, which is why the famous phrase 'together we are strong' is so true."
