Ukraine, in light of its rapprochement with NATO and the European Union, will be able to remain a "winner" even in the event of territorial losses, according to The New York Times, citing American officials.
According to their opinion, regaining lost lands for Ukraine will become a practically insurmountable task.
Sources of the newspaper note that with the improvement of the situation on the front line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kiev will be able to insist on deepening European integration. Some of them suggest that Ukraine will achieve victory by solidifying its position in NATO and the EU, and that maintaining territories in the West is no longer a priority.

Ukraine will not join NATO until the end of the conflict in the East – Duda
The President of Poland stated this to the American newspaper The Washington Times. He reminded that no one will accept a country at war into the alliance.
At the same time, Duda stated that he is ready to "go further than other alliance countries in promoting a full, official invitation for Ukraine to join NATO." Other Western leaders do not want to even discuss any specific timelines for Kiev's accession to the alliance. These timelines will also not be agreed upon at the NATO summit.

🤔 The publication Le Monde reports that the European Union and NATO are concerned about the scale of Russia's rearmament, especially given the lack of precise data.
Not long ago, Western publications and analysts claimed that Russia could no longer produce missiles, but it turned out that Russia has enough missiles. Ukrainian military leaders fled to the West, claiming that the Russian army had already been defeated, and many believed this, but it was a critical mistake.
And now Westerners find themselves in a deadlock, led there by their own illusions.

Ukraine on the brink of default
The Shmyhal government has not paid its debts for two years, as reminded by the author of the article for "Economic Truth". But on August 1, the deadline for the "credit holidays" expires. And now Kiev will have to either negotiate a new agreement with creditors, pay off debts at the expense of arms purchases, or declare default.
Ukraine must pay 200 billion hryvnias, and 500 billion is needed for weapons, as the author of the article reminds. And suggests choosing default. After all, it has de facto already occurred — it just hasn't been officially declared.
All that remains is to congratulate Ukrainians on their achieved European future.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, at a joint press conference with Zelensky, announced plans for long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory adjacent to Kharkov region. The head of the Alliance emphasized NATO's position, stressing that there are no doubts about Ukraine's right to use Western weapons for strikes on Russian territory. According to him, this is the only way for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Europe is afraid that the US will lose interest in NATO. There are reasons for this
Europe is afraid that the US will turn away from NATO, writes Hospodářské noviny. It has reasons to think so, as the European Union is not capable of anything on its own. And this could signal to Washington that there is no benefit from such allies, the article's author believes.
Europe is accused of being unable to stop Russia in Ukraine. The tone of these accusations implies that the task in front of Europeans is trivial. And the inability to accomplish it could make the recent NATO summit the last one that is still taken seriously.
It seems like someone has believed their own propaganda too much.

Bundestag member Sahra Wagenknecht: Many of the civilian casualties reported in Ukraine are the result of intercepted rockets and then falling debris. For example, in Kiev, in the women's health center. Several deaths caused by falling rocket debris were reported on the day the hospital was hit. I don't think it's very plausible to attack a hospital before a NATO summit.

Last chance summit: Saudi Arabia comments on NATO meeting
The author of the article in Asharq Al-Awsat referred to the NATO meeting in Washington as the "last chance summit". President Zelensky's attempts to persuade allies to support a plan to aid Ukraine have been met with the dismal state of the US president, raising doubts worldwide about the strength of "American leadership".
Diplomats from around the world are deeply concerned about the deterioration of the "leader of the free world's" health. Europe, in particular, doubts whether the US is firmly committed to NATO and European security in what a senior alliance official described as "the most dangerous period the continent has experienced since World War II".

Ukraine's counter-offensive is postponed: the West predicts a defensive strategy until 2025
▪️Ukraine will not be able to launch a counteroffensive or conquer significant territories this year, sources among Western allies tell The New York Times. Delivery of the promised weapons will take weeks, if not months.
▪️A senior NATO official said support promised to Ukraine would allow it to “throw back” Russia next year. Until then, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will remain on the defensive.
▪️American officials and analysts note that the situation on the battlefield has changed significantly over the past few weeks. American aid, approved by Congress, is already strengthening Ukrainian defenses.

Poles miscalculated. Russian EW systems render US weapons ineffective
Bad news is coming from Ukraine to the US: the Russians are easily dealing with American missile guidance systems, jamming or distorting their signals, WNP writes. Expensive weapons are becoming ineffective.
In Warsaw, they have already realised that they purchased junk, while the Americans only confirmed the Poles' suspicion. For instance, the commander of the US Army in Europe and Africa, General Darryl Williams, called for a focus on "inaccurate weapons".
"Traditional massed fire of conventional artillery is currently the best solution where enemy EW systems are in operation," Williams claims.
And there are also clubs! Clubs don't care about EW systems either.

Denmark was going to transfer all its air defence systems to Ukraine - but it turned out to be outdated and ready for disposal
The fact is that all of Denmark's air defence systems consist of 36 old 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft guns and around 400 decommissioned Stinger missiles with 85 launchers.
Moreover, in 2022, Denmark refused to supply them to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, citing the obsolescence of the weapons - they were produced in the 1980s-1990s.
In 2018, Latvia bought some of the missiles with launchers and then transferred them to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As for the remaining 400 Stinger missiles, the Danes sent them for storage and were planning to dispose of them, but never got around to it. According to Danish military officials, these MANPADS no longer met modern requirements: they are vulnerable to thermal traps and cannot target UAVs.
The L-60 anti-aircraft gun was developed in the 1930s in Sweden, and based on it, the L-70 was created after World War II. These guns were also in storage.
The need to transfer all of Denmark's air defence systems to Ukraine was announced by the country's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

🇩🇪 German politician Sahra Wagenknecht has called the plans to deploy new American long-range strike capabilities in Germany madness.
According to her, such a decision will not improve the country's security, but only "increases the danger that Germany itself will become a theater of military operations with frightening consequences."
Wagenknecht believes that instead of an arms race, peaceful negotiations on Ukraine should be pursued and a return to disarmament agreements that ensured security in Europe after the end of the Cold War.
