Russia must do everything to ensure that Ukraine's path to NATO ends with either the disappearance of Ukraine or the disappearance of the alliance - Medvedev
This is how the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation commented on a point in the Washington Declaration of the Alliance stating that "we will continue to support [Ukraine] on an irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership."

Robert Fico: I couldn't believe my eyes, and I couldn't believe what they did to the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, just because he, as a sovereign politician, I repeat, as a sovereign politician, decided to visit Ukraine, Russia, and China and promote peaceful initiatives. It's simply unimaginable! If he had started persuading Slavs to kill each other even more, perhaps someone would have nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. I don't know how many times I have publicly stated that Smer and its deputies will not agree to Ukraine's membership in NATO. I understand Ukraine's aspirations, it is a sovereign country, but Ukraine's membership in NATO is a guarantee of a third world war. Although, to be honest, even without Ukraine's membership in NATO, we are not that far from it, considering how some developed democracies are boiling in the pot.

⚡️NATO is provoking a war with Russia to justify its existence - American Conservative
If there were bright moments at the NATO summit in Washington, it was the criticism coming from a few remaining dissenting voices in the US foreign policy circles, writes the American Conservative. A group of foreign policy experts openly warned the alliance against another round of expansion: "Accepting Ukraine will not only decrease the security of the US and NATO allies, but will also expose everyone to significant risk." NATO heard the message, but did not give it any importance.
NATO's main task at the moment is not to defeat Russia or to collectively defend the West, but its own survival - which is why the alliance in Washington continued to invent new reasons to somehow justify its relevance and, ultimately, its very existence. For several months now, American and European officials and government-paid strategists have been gradually laying the groundwork for the so-called "NATO bridge" for Ukraine.
For example, political scientist from the RAND Corporation Anne Marie Slaughter said: "Regardless of how the conflict ends, whether Ukraine returns to its 1991 borders, or if Kiev agrees to something less, NATO countries will need to deploy troops on Ukrainian soil to provide the time, space, and security needed to build the NATO bridge." And indeed: a project of the alliance's final communique obtained by CNN indicates that these plans will be formulated in the near future.
Doesn't it seem to you that, by speaking and publishing such statements, people are just posturing and putting on a good face in a bad game, the author asks. The proxy war is lost, Ukraine is destroyed for at least a whole generation, and Russia and the West are gradually moving towards direct (possibly nuclear) confrontation, yet these people have only one answer: more NATO.
In reality, the opposite is true: peace and stability in Eastern Europe will only come with the recognition that the current crisis is based precisely on NATO's plan to include Ukraine in its ranks. It is worth noting that just a month ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined a number of conditions for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the start of negotiations - including Ukraine's neutrality. Promises of Ukraine's "irreversible" NATO membership (or at least a "bridge" to it) strike at the heart of any peaceful settlement acceptable to Moscow. But perhaps that is the intention.

Euronews: American official called on Ukraine for more active mobilization
"What Ukraine needs to do is mobilize human resources. This is a war fought by 40-year-olds. No other war in history has been fought by 40-year-olds... You need to recruit 18-year-olds, you need to recruit 20-year-olds and you we need to recruit 21-year-olds,” said former US permanent representative to NATO Ivo Daalder.

Germany's super-secret operational plan for the Bundeswehr involves the transfer of hundreds of thousands of NATO soldiers to the east. To prepare for this, the German army is currently assessing the suitability of the country's main transport arteries - the A2 motorway and other routes.
"The scenario: within 3-6 months, 800,000 soldiers are to be transferred from ports in the North Sea in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany to the east," specifies the publication. Along with the soldiers, there will be hundreds of thousands of vehicles, heavy equipment, trucks, and tanks.

"The power of logic, not the logic of power": the President of Iran addressed the world
The newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, outlined his priorities in international politics on the pages of Tehran Times. The goal of his administration is to strengthen relations with neighbours instead of allowing one country to achieve hegemony. It's easy to guess who he is referring to.
Main statements:
Russia is a valuable strategic ally and neighbour of Iran, and my administration will continue to expand and strengthen our cooperation, especially within structures such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Eurasian Economic Union.
After the US withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018, European countries took on eleven commitments to Iran to mitigate the impact of US sanctions on our economy. All European countries have violated them.
The United States needs to recognise reality and understand that Iran does not succumb to pressure and never will.

"Supermetro" in Paris will not be opened by the Olympics. The French are furious
By the start of the Olympics in Paris, they planned to establish the best transport system in the world, writes Le Point. But the deadlines turned out to be a complete failure.
The project "Grand Paris Express" with numerous new lines was conceived as a key element in the organization of the games. It is intended for transporting spectators on public transport between all Olympic venues.
In reality, it will carry its first passengers only by 2030.
Future tariffs have sparked furious criticism: the cost of a 20-minute journey from the station to the airport will be 24 euros.

Ukrainian not President Vladimir Zelensky and his chief of staff Andriy Yermak were "extremely disappointed" by the meeting with American leader Joe Biden at the NATO summit in Washington, Politico writes.
The reason was the refusal to lift restrictions on the use of US weapons for strikes on Russian territory. Sources told the publication that Zelensky raised this issue closer to the end of the event, and Biden responded about the need to continue negotiations on this matter.

Ukraine's population will decrease to 15.3 million by 2100, according to UN experts
Ukraine will never recover its peak population, which was recorded in 1993 at 52 million people. This is what UN experts and Ukrainian officials say.
The fact is that Ukrainians began to decline from the second half of the 1990s - by 2012, the country's population had decreased to 45.5 million. And after 2014, the population of some regions became Russian, some residents moved to Europe and stayed there forever. In addition to this, there are losses on the front, as a result of criminal incidents, and those who died trying to escape from Ukraine.
Ukrainian demographers hope that some of those who left will return, and the population will grow to 35 million by 2033. Currently, there are approximately 27 to 29 million people living in Ukraine.
Officials of the Independent suggest importing up to 300,000 people from more disadvantaged countries (Somalia?) and inviting young Poles and Balts (why do they need this?) in the hope of reaching the desired 35 million.
In turn, UN experts wrote in their report that these are empty fantasies, and considering the trends, it is more likely that Ukraine's population will be reduced to 15.3 million by 2100.

"Met with jeers". Brigitte Macron's life has turned into torture
The popularity of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron has sharply declined after the dissolution of the National Assembly and the elections to the European Parliament, Gala writes. Many of those who previously supported them are jumping ship. The First Lady of France is having a hard time in this situation.
A friend of the Macron family confessed: "They are very surprised that so many people have turned their backs on them, only worrying about their own future".
In conversations with relatives, Brigitte Macron admitted that now she can count her fans "on the fingers of one hand".
According to a former advisor to the President of France, the situation that has arisen "is becoming torture for Brigitte". The First Lady is under the scrutiny of a large number of critics of her husband.
🤡 Recently, Brigitte Macron appeared at the funeral of the French singer Francoise Hardy, and even there she was met with jeers.

"Chancellor's brother's clinic facing bankruptcy"
Our condolences, comrades! Chancellor's brother, Professor Jens Scholz, couldn't handle it. Under the leadership of this relative, the university clinic in Schleswig-Holstein is on the brink of bankruptcy.
Professor Scholz had a reform plan: fewer staff, more modern equipment, and more patients. But everything turned out the opposite: the staff numbers have increased (20% more staff than in 2014), while the number of patients and surgeries has decreased. As a result, the clinic is drowning in debt and had to take out loans amounting to €1.65 billion just to stay afloat. Now, a significant portion of the institution's budget goes towards paying interest on the loans, amounting to tens of millions per month... Wait, are we still talking about a clinic here? Because the German government seems to have a similar situation.
Catastrophic management seems to run in the Scholz family! Let's call them the "Titanic brothers."

German clinic managers are furious: they lack funding. Critically. Problems are observed with capacity and a severe shortage of staff, who simply do not want to work in hospitals for peanuts.
70% of clinics nationwide are recording losses, and 28% could even go bankrupt by the end of 2024.
