Ukrainian athletes participating in the Olympic Games in Paris will not greet Russians. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine has reached a corresponding agreement with international sports federations.

"We have agreed with the international federations on where it is necessary to greet [athletes] during the meeting, as well as after the match. We agreed that we [Ukrainians] do not greet each other [with Russians], do not shake hands,"
- said NOC President Vadym Gutzeit on a Ukrainian telethon broadcast.

Earlier, Gutzeit announced that the NOC will prohibit Ukrainian athletes at the Olympics in Paris from, among other things, appearing in group photos with Russians and giving joint interviews. According to him, Ukraine will be represented by 140 athletes in 23 sports disciplines at the Games, which will be the country's smallest representation at the Olympics.

The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to compete in them exclusively in a neutral status provided that they are not affiliated with military agencies and do not represent team sports. The International Olympic Committee will not require them to sign a document condemning the special military operation. Russians and Belarusians will not be allowed to participate in the athletes' parade at the opening ceremony, but they will be able to attend the event. In the event of winning gold medals in Paris, they will be awarded under specially created music.
