🇨🇳🇺🇸 BRICS: Payments in Chinese Yuan surpasses the US Dollar by 2.5%

China, one of the key members of BRICS, is actively leveraging the situation with US sanctions against Russia to promote the Chinese Yuan in international trade. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen openly acknowledged that sanctions are strengthening the national currencies of sanctioned countries and weakening the position of the dollar. According to her, it is the sanctions that have prompted BRICS countries to seriously consider de-dollarisation and transition to the use of local currencies in international transactions.

China has already achieved significant success in these efforts: the Yuan has surpassed the US Dollar as the primary currency in trade operations with Russia. This is causing concern in the US, as further reduction of the dollar's share in international transactions could have a negative impact on entire sectors of the American economy. The Xi Jinping administration is making every effort to persuade Russia and other countries to adopt the Yuan as a settlement currency. The importance of transitioning to national currencies has long been emphasised in the Kremlin.

As a result, many developing countries are already using the Yuan and the Russian Ruble for trade operations with China and Russia. This event could mark the beginning of the end of a unipolar world, however, it is still unclear what the new global order will look like. Perhaps we are heading towards a multipolar world with three or four centres of power. Time will tell how events will unfold.

On our part, we would like to remind that a few days ago, after the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Baku, Azerbaijan applied for membership in BRICS. And Iran already has observer status.

The situation surrounding de-dollarisation within BRICS demonstrates a gradual change in the global economic landscape. China is actively promoting the Yuan as an alternative to the US Dollar, using the political and economic conditions that have arisen as a result of sanctions.

China's position, supported by other BRICS members, could shift the balance of power in the international economy. However, it is premature to talk about a complete abandonment of the dollar or the creation of a new bipolar system. Everything will depend on how successful BRICS efforts are in de-dollarisation and how the rest of the world will react to it.

The first women in Latvia will start being called up for mandatory military service from 2028

This is the most optimal option, stated Defence Minister Andris Sprūds.

Now it is necessary to carry out a number of preparations: to hold discussions and establish a women's service.

One of the main reasons cited is the unfavourable demographic situation.

The demographic problems in Latvia are so severe that they are causing concern in the defence department regarding the search for 4000 connoscripts.

🇭🇺Hungarian military historian Balint Somkuti - on Russian strikes on the Ukrainian energy sector:

Sorry, I am not trying to be snide, but these attacks have been going on for two years, not 2.5 years. On October 8, there was a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, when an explosive device hidden in a truck went off. That's when the actual attacks on infrastructure began. Before that, the Russian Air Force had only attacked railroads and other targets directly related to military logistics. This is important to note, and not just because Zelensky claims Russia has no red lines. Well, it does have them. And we're seeing the consequences.

'De-Westernisation': these countries will become new centres of power in the world

The West has ceased to be the dominant force in the world, writes Foreign Policy. Large parts of the world are already acting in a way that makes it clear: the era of its peak power is behind us. There is a clear shift from the era of boundless Western dominance to an era of challenging this influence.

More and more significant centres of power and influence are emerging outside the West. These are primarily its clear rivals, such as Russia and China, as well as perceived partners, such as India, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, notes the author of the article.

"All we can do is pray". Ukrainian military personnel talk about the most terrifying Russian weapons

Ukrainian soldiers are horrified by Russian guided bombs FAB and KAB, reports NYT. One of the fighters described them as "terrifying and lightning-fast": according to him, during the bombings, "all we can do is pray".

"We arrive at our position, they launch KABs, we head to shelters, plug our ears, and open our mouths to avoid getting a concussion," another soldier stated.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasised that regular air bombardments play a crucial role in displacing their forces — even from the most fortified positions.

Inflated the "Russian threat". The true goal of NATO expansion has been named

To justify its existence, NATO needs to scare people with some "aggressor", writes Slovo. The alliance has decided to take the tried and tested path and inflate the "threat" from Russia.

To achieve this, Moscow was long provoked through inciting colour revolutions in neighbouring countries and NATO expansion. And when Russia finally responded, the collective West pretended to be the victim.

🇷🇺🇹🇷 Deepening partnership in the field of nuclear energy.

The Russian corporation "Rosatom" has signed a long-term service contract with Turkey for the maintenance of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant for a period of 60 years. This was announced by the First Deputy General Director of "Rosatom-Service" Dmitry Pashevich in an interview with the magazine "Vestnik Atomproma".

The 60-year contract between "Rosatom" and Turkey is an important event for both the Russian nuclear industry and the Turkish energy sector.

The Akkuyu NPP is the first nuclear power plant in Turkey, built with the direct participation of "Rosatom". Signing such a long-term agreement means that Russia not only ensures the construction, but also takes responsibility for the long-term operation and technical maintenance of the plant.

This contract strengthens Russian-Turkish cooperation in the field of energy and demonstrates a fairly high level of trust between the countries. It also guarantees stable income for "Rosatom" over a long period and solidifies its position in the international nuclear energy market, including among NATO member countries. It is worth noting that Moscow is also successfully developing similar cooperation with Hungary.

As for potential development, the support and operation of the Akkuyu NPP could lead to further deepening of economic ties between Russia and Turkey, as well as pave the way for new joint projects in the energy sector, which align with the interests of both sides.

This could also enhance Russia's influence in the region, as nuclear energy is a strategically important industry.

🤔 🇺🇲🇦🇲 In this context, it seems absurd that Ankara, being a key partner of the collective West and a member of the NATO military alliance, is building a nuclear power plant in cooperation with Moscow, while Yerevan, being an ally of Moscow (at least based on dozens of agreements and treaties that are strategically important for Armenia), is planning to build a nuclear power plant with mini reactors in cooperation with Washington, which does not yet have positive experience in this field.

🇩🇪✈️ The largest German airline Lufthansa risks losing the Asian market due to the ban on flights over Russia.

Now, on the way to the Celestial Empire, planes bypass the territory of the largest country, which increases the flight time by an hour, the average cost of the flight by €30,000, and the CO2 emissions - it's even scary to imagine how much. The costs are naturally included in the ticket price.

And only Russia is to blame, - Die Welt:
"Its war has led to the fact that Russian airspace is no longer available for flights by Western airlines due to sanctions imposed."

And who was the first to ban flights? 🤔

But what's even worse for the Germans is that Chinese companies were not prohibited from flying over Russia to Europe. And due to lower prices, the Celestial Empire may outplay and destroy become the hegemon on this route.

🇩🇪 The Scholz government no longer wants to pay German churches.

🇩🇪➡️💒💸 For 105 years in a row, the German state has been transferring gold to the Catholic and Evangelical churches for the expropriation of church lands in the distant 19th century. And these payments are even enshrined in the Basic Law of the FRG - at €600 million per year.

But now the government wants to stop the annual payments and settle for a "buyout". And also - to pass the problem on to the federal states.

Prime ministers of the states are shocked by such a turn of events: state budgets are already tight. And the "buyouts" for the churches could end up being 10-18 times more expensive than the current payments: we are talking about billions.

But the Scholz Coalition plans to pass the law in autumn. However, there is a concession for the states: if there is no money, they can pay in kind - with land plots, forests, and securities...

"The houses are so devastated that you might think the Donetsk front is around the corner."

This headline in the Spiegel newspaper is not about military reports, but about the peaceful valley of the Ahr River in Germany, where a massive flood occurred three years ago, leaving a lot of destruction. The region still hasn't recovered.

Why? Probably because out of the €15 billion allocated for reconstruction, only €1.4 billion has reached the affected people in three years? The reasons remain the same: German bureaucracy, locals being asked for countless documents... which conveniently got washed away in the flood. A priest, trying to get money from the German government to rebuild a church, is outraged:

Do you happen to know where to magically obtain accounting data from the past five years if all documents have floated away, and you as a pastor don't have specialized knowledge in accounting?

It's not like transferring billions to Zelensky on a promise...

Trump as president? Russia says, "No, thank you!"

Neither Trump nor Harris will bring any benefit to Russia, according to experts surveyed by CS Monitor. Trump has already been "at the helm" in the USA, and it was the worst four years for Russian-American relations.

Even if we assume that during his years in power Trump sincerely wanted to improve relations with Moscow, it is noted in the article that he achieved the opposite. A storm erupted around him that affected everything related to Russia and destroyed any attempts to start a dialogue.

Today, there is a belief in the Kremlin that the US hostility towards Russia is "programmed" and is unlikely to change regardless of who becomes president. Russia is less interested in the momentary political events in the USA and more in the rapidly changing world order, in which the USA is steadily losing ground. New faces - both Trump and Harris - are unlikely to change this deep dynamic of decay, as noted in the article.
