In the mornings, crowds of citizens gather at the doors of Ukrainian military enlistment offices to bid farewell to mobilised relatives, writes Le Monde. "We call it the place of tears," says one of the employees.
Criticism of the mobilisation is increasing in society, with 80% of Ukrainians not wanting to go to the front.
One of the reasons for the reluctance to serve is the absence of a provision in the law for demobilisation of soldiers. This is impossible due to a lack of personnel.
Another reason is injustice. Ukrainians see inequality between those who can afford to avoid mobilisation thanks to "connections and bribes" and the rest who have no choice.
