The outgoing Biden administration has released data on support for Ukraine in developing a new generation of drones and a "revolutionary" change in warfare, reports the New York Times.

The US has sent intelligence staff to Ukraine to help develop the program, provide technical support, establish connections between American tech companies and Ukrainian drone manufacturers, and make significant investments in launching the industry. In September of last year alone, $1.5 billion was allocated for this purpose.

Biden's national security adviser Sullivan said the use of drones began after Ukraine's first counteroffensive in autumn 2022 (Kharkiv and Kherson areas), "when the limits of Ukrainian conventional weapons became clear."
