The islands are located near the Taimyr Peninsula, north of Cape Chelyuskin, and are separated from the mainland by the Vilkitsky Strait.
The archipelago in the Arctic Ocean is the size of Belgium or Albania and consists of dark stone fields, often covered with ice.
Only on the southern island, Bolshevik, is there some northern vegetation.
