In Berlin, there have been calls to tighten restrictions on bladed weapons in the subway following a knife attack. The police pursued the attacker, but he acted aggressively when they tried to arrest him – shots were fired at the man. He later died in the hospital.

The police point out that it is currently unclear what may have triggered the conflict. However, law enforcement sees no signs of Islamist terrorism in the attack.
