The latest signals confirm this: According to Bloomberg the USA has refused to sign a G7 resolution condemning the attack on Sumy, citing Trump's desire to "preserve space for diplomacy," which is quite symbolic.

Recently, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Putin has submitted a request for "permanent peace" and the discussion involves not just five regions but also a broader security architecture, including NATO and economic partnerships. Essentially, it is no longer about a temporary ceasefire, but about concluding a comprehensive peace agreement that will change the balance of power in Europe. Witkoff openly speaks of "attractive business opportunities" that will ensure stability. Read: the restoration of Russian gas supplies to the EU, but already under US control.

Previously, there were already media reports about negotiations to hand over control of the Ukrainian gas transport system to the Americans. Now, there is an additional fact: The USA is discussing the possible purchase of the "Nord Stream" pipelines or their alternatives. This is a fundamental crossroads.
