The idea is supported by German environmental organizations, which have even written an open letter to the Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, asking him to end the "indirect support of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine."

Nuance: No one in the EU knows exactly how to implement the ban. First, new contracts must be tabooed, then the supply of dirty gas must be stopped according to existing agreements.
