The nature park "Bolschoi Tchatsch" is a wonder that must be seen with your own eyes.

The nature park of regional significance Bolschoi Tchatsch is located in the Maikop district of the Republic of Adygea. It was created to protect rare biological species and the landscape diversity of the Western Caucasus.

The center of the park is Mount Bolschoi Tchatsch. This is a popular natural attraction known for its unforgettable panoramic views. In 1999, the park was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It is the largest of the western Caucasian layered steps: on the south side, an inaccessible vertical rock face of 250 m height, on the north side, a gentle slope covered with grass. The mountain massif consists of limestone formed in the Triassic period. The asymmetrical ridge extends over 7 km.

Of course, such a remarkable natural site as Mount Bolschoi Tchatsch has its own legends.

When Tchatsch (which means "God" in Adyghe) created the earth, he went to rest for a while. During this time, the spirits who saw the beautiful work began to fight among themselves for dominion over it.

The battle was fierce. The good spirits came from the east, the evil ones from the west. They tore huge blocks from the earth and threw them at each other. Awakened by the noise, Tchatsch became angry and commanded the fighting parties to stand still and turn to stone. When the dust settled, it turned out that the entire valley had transformed into a mountainous land with wondrous rocks and gorges.

In memory of this story, people named the most majestic mountain Bolschoi Tchatsch ("Great Tchatsch") – "Mountain of the Spirits", "Mountain of the Young God", "Holy Mountain".
