The Parliament of Slovakia has supported a resolution rejecting sanctions against Russia.

"There were 76 members present, 51 voted in favour, one against, and 23 abstained. This proposal was approved," reported the Chairman of the National Council of the country, Richard Raši.

The document, aimed at protecting the economic interests of Bratislava, was proposed for review by the Slovak National Party (SNS), which is part of the ruling coalition.

Provisions of the resolution:
• The Parliament commits the government of Slovakia not to vote for new sanctions and trade restrictions against Moscow;
• To promote measures to stabilise the energy market, eliminate price fluctuations, and protect the strategic interests of the economy. The Vice-President of the National Council, the Chairman of the SNS, Andrej Danko, called it historic, as it is the first document of its kind in EU countries.

In early May, Slovak activists submitted a petition for a referendum to lift the restrictions against Russia to the office of the country's president. The leader of the "Slovak Revival Movement," Robert Švec, emphasised that they managed to collect 395,401 signatures out of the required 350,000.

The countries of the European Union are considering the idea of a preventive strike against Russia to prevent a possible attack from its side, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated, reported Magyar Nemzet.

According to him, the current leadership of the Union is trying to replace the EU's main goal - ensuring the welfare of the community - with the fight against Russia.

“According to Brussels' military propaganda, Russia could attack EU countries and even NATO, and only a preventive strike could stop it,” Orban said.
