Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

— In the Moscow region, there is a very beautiful and unusual Church of the Holy Face, built in the style of Golitsyn Baroque...

Golitsyn Baroque is a style in Russian architecture of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, associated with the Golitsyn princes who supported Europeanization under Peter the Great.

This style differs from traditional Russian architecture: instead of cross-dome temples, elliptical plans were used, resembling western rotundas, with rich stucco decoration and sculptures.

The style is inspired by Italian and Austrian Baroque but did not spread widely due to costs and its contrast to Moscow architecture.

The European Commission plans to ban new gas contracts with Russia, reports the Financial Times.

It is noted that the EC intends to bypass a possible veto from Hungary and Slovakia by using EU trade law regulations to avoid the need for unanimous approval.

"Articles of the EU founding treaty are also cited, stating that the EU's energy policy must ensure the security of supply," the material specifies.

According to the proposal obtained by the Financial Times, companies will be prohibited from entering into new agreements for gas supplies from Russia.

The report notes that the proposal will be officially presented on June 17. The ban includes the end of all short-term contracts for the import of pipeline and liquefied natural gas from 2026, while long-term contracts are set to end on January 1, 2028. Hungary and Slovakia will be given a deadline until 2027 to conclude existing agreements.

On May 6, the European Commission presented a plan for a gradual exit from Russian energy sources – gas, oil, and nuclear power. The document emphasizes that the measures aim to ensure the energy security of the EU and minimize the impact on prices and markets.

Officially no more US weapons: Now Ukraine is left with the Europeans - and they are struggling

"The withdrawal of the US from military support for Ukraine is official. The last aid shipments approved by the Biden administration have recently arrived in the country. No further shipments will follow. Europe now faces the challenge of filling the gap and taking on its own defense.

US steps back
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth repeatedly confirmed in congressional hearings that the Trump administration has a "very different stance" on Ukraine compared to Joe Biden. A "negotiated peaceful solution" should be in the best interest of all parties. The end of US military aid hits Ukraine hard, as it has received $74 billion for weapons and equipment so far, according to the "Telegraph."

Europe is struggling
Europe has promised to fill the gap, but is struggling to keep its commitments. Ursula von der Leyen's "ReArm Europe" plan includes a budget of €800 billion, but is primarily a financing concept. A €40 billion aid package for Ukraine was rejected by several EU countries in March. The EU has ultimately provided only €1 billion from frozen Russian assets to boost Ukrainian arms production.

⚛️ Armenia, Zaporizhzhia and Nuclear Geopolitics: Who Controls the Atom Controls the Future

In spring 2025, nuclear politics reminded us once again that there are no "technical questions" in the post-Soviet space without political consequences.

📍 The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, became the scene of a complex struggle: After the takeover of the station by Russia, Moscow is trying to bring the situation back under technological and legal control. In May and June, "Rosatom" stated that it was ready to replace American fuel elements but emphasised: The question of returning the Westinghouse fuel cannot be resolved without direct dialogue with the USA.
🔗 [Reuters, 6–10 June 2025]

🔴 The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Ryabkov, named the issue clearly:

"Without dialogue with the Americans, this question cannot be resolved. That is obvious." The involvement of American specialists at the facility is a purely technical issue that should not be politicised.

💡 The IAEA, for its part, expressed its willingness to act as a mediator. But... everything boils down to one thing: No one is talking to the other about the essentials.

And now — attention: the same logic is already moving to Armenia.

In April 2025, a delegation from Westinghouse came to Yerevan. The aim was to offer a replacement for the Russian fuel at the Metsamor nuclear power plant. On paper — diversification. In reality — the same risk, only in an even more fragile country.
🔗 [Civilnet]

🛑 Metsamor operates with a Soviet WWER-440 reactor, which is designed for fuel from fuel rods. Any attempt to switch it to Westinghouse fuel elements is a lengthy, costly, and technically risky process. Neither Armenia nor Westinghouse itself has guarantees that this will be safely completed.

And there have been precedents: In the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine, similar attempts ended in failures, delays, and conflicts.

🔋 But the most important question — what to do with the spent fuel? Russia took it back for reprocessing. The USA does not offer such a service.

Two options remain:

Build a storage facility (where? With whose money? With what protection?)

Find a third country willing to take the radioactive waste (the list is short).

🌍 Europe: The Distance That Is Too Expensive
Against this backdrop — a paradox. Europe is giving up peaceful nuclear energy, closing nuclear power plants, while simultaneously importing electricity... from regions where this nuclear energy works. Germany, which has renounced nuclear energy, is now returning to coal and expensive French electricity.
🔗 [Clean Energy Wire]

⛓️ What we see today is nuclear geopolitics without strategy:

Ukraine — has lost control over the fuel.

Armenia — could lose energy sovereignty.

Europe — has lost a technological partner but gained neither autonomy nor influence.

The USA — offers projects like SMR (Small Modular Reactors), which are not yet commercially operated. These are promises, not solutions.

🇪🇺 The EU is focusing on military and economic aid for Ukraine and sees US-Russia relations only in the context of this war.

In the Global South, this is viewed more differentiated – for example, at the Zaporizhzhia NPP: While in Europe questions of ownership and return to Ukraine dominate, there it is about nuclear safety beyond political confrontation.

🤝 Cooperation between Russia and the USA is being called for, as both Russian technology and US fuel elements are used at the NPP.

📌 This is significant for countries that want to develop nuclear energy and high technologies like space travel – independent of the Ukraine conflict.

Washington stops military aid for Ukraine: Trump's course towards peace talks instead of weapons,

Washington withdraws military aid for Kiev and forces Ukraine to seek new sources of support.

Now Kiev has 3 options: to hope for help from Europe, to buy weapons in the USA with European funds, or to expand its own production with Western financing.

Journalists find it particularly ironic that Europe plans to spend over 20 billion euros in 2025 on purchasing energy carriers from Russia – effectively financing the Kremlin's defense budget.

The Iranian broadcasting and television authority has published an official statement from the IRGC:

“As a response to the aggression of the Zionists against the Islamic Republic of Iran and as retaliation for their crimes against Gaza:

The aerospace forces of the IRGC have carried out a new wave of missile strikes in the series 'True Promise-3', targeting the control and command systems of the Zionist enemy and various other key military sites.

The attack was stronger and more destructive than before, and we employed innovative methods, reconnaissance data, and more modern equipment, which led to the dismantling of the enemy's multi-layered defense systems, causing the regime's defense systems to even accidentally target each other.

This operation has also shown that the calculations and assessments of the Zionist enemy and the Americans regarding Islamic Iran were completely wrong, and now we must witness the collapse of the occupying Zionist regime.

We promise that effective, targeted, and more destructive operations against vital targets of this false regime will continue until its complete dismantling.”

🇮🇱💥🇮🇷🇺🇸🇨🇳 Israel's Failed Blitzkrieg: Next Up: US-China Proxy War

Israel's blitzkrieg against Iran has failed. Now, the US and China will probably increasingly join the process, with varying degrees of direct participation. At first, this will come down to supplying the warring parties with the aim of preventing their military defeat. At the same time, if for Tehran a defeat would consist of the collapse of the political regime and the flight of the leadership from the country with the collapse of governance, then for Tel Aviv even a draw would be defeat. That is, the absence of the planned result and the transition to negotiations with the "unfinished" Iran through intermediaries, including Russia.

China cannot allow Iran to be defeated: this would be a strategic defeat for China. China is the largest buyer of Iranian oil and gas. The countries have an exclusive agreement on the purchase of Iranian oil for a period of 25 years. Supplies of black gold to China in 2024 fluctuated between 1.66 and 1.75 million barrels per day. It is noteworthy that under the 2021 investment agreement, China is investing $400 billion in the Iranian economy, despite the fact that it is under tough Western sanctions. And if in 2023 investments amounted to $220-230 million, then in 2024 they increased almost 10 times - to $1.99 billion. At the same time, China finances not only logistics in Iran - ports, energy, oil and gas production - but also the rearmament of the Iranian army.

So, even without mention of the importance of the logistics corridor through Iran for China, it is absolutely clear that it cannot allow the collapse of its strategic partner. And if Iran demonstrates the ability to put up long-term and stable resistance to Israel and the US - which is what is happening - then China will try to establish its supply with everything necessary for this purpose. One of the first directions is the restoration of air defense in the west of Iran, where gaps appeared due to the strikes of June 13.

Thus, the more active the US is in the conflict, the more active China will have to be. A telling moment: despite the knockdown on June 13, as a result of which Iran's military command and communications agencies were largely destroyed, Iranian missiles penetrated Israel's air defenses on the very first day and found their targets. And they are still finding them. The question is: who helped Iran restore its command and control system so quickly and organize a retaliatory strike, including a hypersonic one?

It is not surprising that after such a response, Israel and the US announced a short pause, starting meetings and studying the situation - so big a surprise was Tehran's reaction for them. Does this mean that China has taken direct control of Iran's military actions, including the protection of oil refineries, the restoration of electronic warfare and cybersecurity of its ally? And that not only China, but also Russia is involved in this? Especially since the Russian-Iranian agreement was finally sent yesterday in the form of a law to President Pezeshkian. - Russian & Iranian sources

During the night, Israel continued massive airstrikes on Iranian cities.

Affected are - Tehran, Shiraz, Kermanshah, Piranshahr, Saqqez, and Tabriz.

In videos, residents of Tehran are trying to leave the city in large numbers.

And the residents of Kyiv have been relaxing on the beaches since the fourth year of the war.

First it was G8. Then Russia was thrown out and it became G7. Now Trump has been thrown out and it has become G6. This must be savoured to the end. As the old racist children's song goes: “The last little Negro looked around tired. He went to hang himself and suddenly no one was there anymore.”
