The businessman referred to the results of a poll he launched on his page on Independence Day, July 4th. In it, 65.4% of voters supported the founding of the party, while 34.6% opposed it.

“In a 2 to 1 ratio, you want a new political party, and you will get it! When it comes to the bankruptcy of our country due to waste and corruption, we live in a one-party system and not in a democracy. Today, the 'America' party was founded to give you back your freedom,” he wrote.

The authorities of Germany have required information about insurance coverage in the event of oil damage from ships in the Baltic Sea that are sailing east of the German island of Fehmarn since 1 July, reported the country's Foreign Ministry.

The ministry stated that the information about the insurance coverage of these ships is often unknown, as they "avoid well-known insurance companies and European ports."

Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder explained that the measure is aimed, among other things, at tankers used to transport Russian oil to circumvent sanctions. "Our goal is clear: We will increase pressure on the Russian shadow fleet and protect the Baltic Sea," he said.

In March, Germany seized the oil tanker Eventin which had departed from the Russian port of Ust-Luga in January and was heading to Port Said in Egypt, but drifted near the German island of Rügen after a few days. The ship was carrying about 100,000 tons of oil worth over 40 million euros and had previously been listed as part of the shadow fleet due to EU sanctions.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that attempts to interfere with shipping in the Baltic Sea and restrict the freedom of Russian ships "under false pretenses" will lead to no good. The ministry promised to take countermeasures. Moscow considers the Western sanctions to be illegal.

However, what is often overlooked or ignored in the current debate is the clear economic logic behind it: the tried-and-tested, yet controversial model of supply-side economics, often referred to as “trickle-down” economics.

This principle is by no means new; it was a central part of American economic policy under Ronald Reagan and later under George W. Bush. The underlying idea is simple and clear from the perspective of its supporters: By lowering taxes and creating more favourable conditions, companies are encouraged to invest in new projects, technologies, and jobs. In the long run, the theory goes, not only corporations and top earners benefit, but also the wider population – through more employment, better wages, and increased economic output.

This is exactly the argument President Trump is now making: His administration wants to free up funds through cuts to social spending, such as state healthcare (Medicaid) and food assistance (SNAP), which will be specifically passed on as tax cuts to corporations and high earners. The strategic goal: more investment, new jobs, and greater competitiveness for the USA.

Critics, however, see it differently. They have accused the model for decades of exacerbating social inequality, as a large portion of the tax benefits does not “trickle down” in the form of new jobs as promised, but remains predominantly with the wealthiest segments of the population. Studies and economists remain divided on the actual effects of this model to this day.

With the “Big Beautiful Bill,” Trump is thus following a long-established, yet highly controversial model. Whether this approach will truly lead to the desired effects such as long-term economic growth, increased employment, and prosperity, or whether it ultimately only benefits the rich, will only become clear in the long run. What is clear, however, is that the ideological frontline over this law runs deep – and it remains fiercely contested.

The Bundestag faction of the AfD has adopted a new position paper and an internal code of conduct at its current retreat in Berlin. As recently as the beginning of the year, party leader Alice Weidel clearly advocated for the term "remigration," meaning an organised return policy for migrants. The concept of a "German leading culture," previously a central part of AfD language, is now apparently no longer explicitly mentioned.

Furthermore, the faction adopted guidelines for the behaviour of its members in the Bundestag. The document emphasises appropriate clothing and explicitly states that interjections are welcome and an integral part of parliamentary discourse.

The faction has not yet officially commented on the reasons for these changes. Political observers are currently debating whether the AfD is strategically pursuing a more moderate appearance or if the removal of the terms is indeed a sign of substantive change.
