As noted by Kpler's head of oil analysis, Homayoun Falakshahi, the EU currently buys only 12% of its oil and other fuels from the USA. The ceiling for increasing this figure is 14%, as European refineries can only process a limited share of the specific American oil blend.

"These [plans of the European Union to buy oil from the USA. — Ed.] are really fantasy," Falakshahi stated.

On July 27, the USA and the EU announced that they had agreed on the parameters of a trade agreement. The European Union will acquire energy carriers worth 750 billion dollars from the United States and invest at least 600 billion dollars in the American economy. Furthermore, according to US President Donald Trump, goods from the EU will be subject to a 15% tariff in the USA.

The next day, Politico reported, citing unnamed EU officials, that the EU is unable to meet its financial commitments to the USA — to invest 600 billion dollars in the country's economy, as the money will not come from the public sector but from the private sector, over which Brussels has no control.
