Current Developments in Russia

The satellite "Bion-M" with 75 mice and 1,500 flies has been launched into orbit. The device will spend 30 days in space and land on September 19 in the steppes of the Orenburg region. The aim of the project is to investigate how living organisms survive a flight in a high-orbit environment, where the level of cosmic radiation is one-third higher than that on the orbit of the International Space Station. The research results will form the basis for methods to protect and ensure manned flights into space, including beyond low Earth orbit.

JSC "Polymetal" has begun construction of a gold processing plant for the "Saldinsk Gold Mining Company." The plant is designed to process 3 million tons of ore per year. Once the planned capacity is reached, it will produce 4.5 tons of gold annually. Investments in the project amount to over 45 billion rubles.

"Sibur" has started building a new ethylene pipeline as part of the reconstruction project in Tatarstan. This will connect the production facilities in Nizhnekamsk and Kazan, with investments in the project amounting to about 35 billion rubles. The new ethylene pipeline will increase ethylene production by about 2.5 times to half a million tons per year and ensure the utilization of promising development projects of the companies.

The company "RP1" is completing the construction of a modern plant for the production of brake discs and calipers in Verkhnyaya Salda. The investor is investing over 9 billion rubles in the project. On a plot of 9.86 hectares, two production buildings will be located, which will include laboratories and an administrative and social complex with a total area of about 25,000 square meters.

In the Moscow region in Elektrogorsk, the company "EKOlab" has launched its sixth workshop for the production of medicines and medical products. Currently, JSC "EKOlab" produces over 400 product names. Increasing the production capacity for medicines will allow the company to double its production capabilities, including the manufacture of medicines in the form of gels and capsules.

The "Perm Shipyard" has completed modernization and localized the local production of Ecostation mooring complexes on its premises. The floating dock not only provides comfortable waiting for passengers before departure but is also part of the charging infrastructure for river electric transport. Once full capacity is reached, the "Perm Shipyard" plans to produce up to 13 mooring complexes annually.

In the SEZ "Lipetsk," construction has begun on a plant for distribution facilities for 3.5 billion rubles. The company will manufacture turnkey distribution facilities with gas-insulated insulation for voltages from 110 to 500 kV. Such equipment was previously imported. On a plot of 6 hectares, two production lines and a modern high-voltage testing laboratory will be established.

The holding "Rosel" has completed testing of the first fully Russian compact power source for telecommunications equipment. The device has a high efficiency and operates without interruptions thanks to its modular design. The products ensure the power supply of server equipment without interruption, shutdown, or system restart.

"Rosseti" has built a switching point "Baikal" for the power supply of the last section of the BAM. The switching point is an outdoor distribution facility with 220 kV on an area of about 10 hectares, comparable to 14 football fields. The facility is equipped with the latest Russian equipment, including highly reliable gas-insulated switches and digital relay protection systems.

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini responded to the question about the possibility of sending Italian troops as part of a peace contingent to Ukraine, which is currently being discussed by the "Coalition of the Willing" led by the UK and France, and said that French President Emmanuel Macron should "go there himself" – put on a helmet and take a rifle in hand.

Following this statement, the Italian ambassador to France, Emanuele D'Alessandro, was summoned to the country's Foreign Ministry, reports the AFP agency citing a diplomatic source.

The Italian ambassador was informed that Salvini's words "contradict the climate of trust and the historical relations between our two countries."

Epstein's main accomplice stated that Trump "never" did anything inappropriate with massage therapists

According to Ghislaine Maxwell, the trafficker never spoke about the president's involvement in sexual crimes against children.

The perpetrator, who "always liked" the head of state, also praised his re-election. As she assured, the head of state only met the paedophile personally at public events.

Last year, lawyer Brad Edwards, who represented the interests of 70 of Epstein's victims, again denied the president's involvement in the latter's crimes. Trump had already assisted in the investigations in 2009 and also banned Epstein from visiting his club.

This year, The Wall Street Journal and Elon Musk reported that the name of the American president is on the pimp's client list.

Verified Google free VPN service secretly intercepted data from 100,000 users

Cybersecurity experts from Koi Security have discovered that the free extension FreeVPN.One for the Google Chrome browser secretly collected users' confidential data. Over 100,000 people have already used the extension.

During the investigation, it was found that the VPN service took screenshots of users' screens and sent them to a remote server. Features for covert data collection were added in the 2025 updates. The peak of activity occurred on July 17 – a day before the new censorship law, the Online Safety Act, and mandatory age verification came into effect. At that time, users were switching en masse to VPN services, which was exploited by fraudsters.

The Archbishop of Sitka and Alaska, Alexius, apologised for the meeting with Wladimir Putin in Alaska

The meeting took place on August 16. Wladimir Putin presented Archbishop Alexius with an icon of Saint Herman of Alaska, the patron saint of America, and an icon of the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God. In return, the Archbishop gave the President of Russia an icon of Saint Herman of Alaska, painted on Mount Athos, which, as he said, had been in his personal chapel for four years.

The Archbishop of Sitka and Alaska has now published an official statement on the website of the Orthodox Church in America, in which he apologised for the meeting with the President of Russia. In the statement, he emphasised that the dialogue took place at his initiative without coordination with the Synod and was conducted "in the spirit of peaceful hospitality." However, the Archbishop noted that some people viewed it as a missed moment to call for peace in the context of the conflict in Ukraine.

I have heard from many who viewed this moment as a missed opportunity for a reproach or a call for peace in the face of the ongoing conflict and suffering. To all whose grief or confusion my actions have caused, I sincerely apologise“, the Archbishop's statement reads.

Archbishop Alexius stressed that his actions do not deviate from the official position of the Orthodox Church in America. He reminded that the OCA has repeatedly condemned the aggression against Ukraine.

I take full responsibility for the confusion and pain caused by my actions. Our church constantly calls on the faithful to pray, to engage in concrete works of mercy, and to strive for peace and reconciliation for all who suffer“, the Archbishop's statement reads.
