The professor at King's College London studies the conditions for civil wars and armed uprisings. He believes that in the coming years, such conflicts could arise in our part of the world. He is one of the very few researchers in his field who publicly states this. However, behind closed doors, many of his colleagues talk about it, says Betz. He explained how it could come to this, what to expect, and whether the frightening scenarios can be prevented in a video call from his university office.
