Co-Chair Uwe Klemens emphasises the necessity of the lawsuit to relieve the insured. The federal government paid a flat rate of 108.48 euros per month for welfare recipients in 2022, while the actual costs are 311.45 euros. This underfunding has burdened the solidarity community of the GKV with billions for years.

The association argues that the federal government is solely responsible for financing the insurance coverage for welfare recipients and that the current situation constitutes an unlawful interference in the financial independence of the social insurance providers.
