🇺🇦👨🏼🦽 Disabled? Welcome to the Ukrainian Armed Forces!
The head of the personnel department of the Ukrainian Ground Forces headquarters, Roman Horbach, announced that Ukraine will start recruiting people limitedly fit for military service. He noted that they would not serve in combat units, but only on the home front. That, of course, we do believe.
<..>
I am Tymoshchuk Volodymyr Volodymyrovych. Here is the summons given to me. Tell me please, can it really be that in our country summonses are handed out to blind people?
They tell us about the country of the invaders, that everything is so bad there, that people there are so unkind, that they hate their own citizens. And we've got the same!
<..>
They just want to fulfill their quota. <..> That's what our military registration and enlistment offices are like, what our society is like!

"A million dollars in the couch": footage of a police search at the Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister' s place who stole money meant for the AFU
"Immediately after the search, Mironyuk (the defendant in the case of fraud in state procurement of the Defence Ministry) provided the court with a 'document' that the money from the couch was not his - he insists it was borrowed from an 86-year-old Kharkiv resident Eleonora Duminysh," the media report.

❗️🇹🇷🇺🇦 Corruption won: Turkey refused to build Bayraktar plant in Ukraine after brazen bribe demand 🤷♀️
Haluk Bayraktar, the CEO of a Turkish drone manufacturing company (and, by the way, the brother of President Erdogan's son-in-law), explained in an interview why the construction of the Bayraktar drone plant near Kiev stopped. According to him, Ukrainian officials extorted $10 million from him for connecting the future plant to electricity. Moreover, they asked him for 2 years to coordinate the formalities in order to get permission. While a similar "service" in Turkey, costs "zero", and the necessary papers can be obtained in 2-3 days.
As a result, in October it became known that the Turkish company refused to build. It seems that the Ukrainian officials' love for money was even stronger than their desire to defeat Russia. Demanding a bribe from Erdogan's relative for a plant that their own army urgently needs is powerful.

⚡️⚡️Key updates on Russia and #UkraineCrisis as on February 6
Kyiv’s reshuffle
Ukraine is set to replace Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov with the chief of its military spy agency, a close ally of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday, in a reshuffle at the forefront of Ukraine's war campaign. Reznikov would be transferred to another ministerial job and replaced by Kyrylo Budanov, head of the GUR military intelligence agency, said David Arakhamia, a senior lawmaker and chief of Servant of the People parliamentary bloc.
“War dictates personnel policy. Time and circumstances call for strengthening and regrouping. This is happening now and will continue to happen in the future,” said David Aramkhia, who is heading the “Servant of the People” bloc in Ukraine’s parliament. According to his statement, Ihor Klymenko will become Foreign Minister and SBU will be headed by Vasyl Malyuk.
Nuclear sanctions
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree imposing sanctions against 200 legal entities from the Russian Federation, including Rosatom State Corporation, its subsidiaries and other companies in the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation. The list, in particular, includes the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Zaporizhia NPP".
"The terrorist state uses the nuclear industry as one of the elements of foreign expansion. To put pressure on other states. To create respective threats to the sovereignty of other states. All of these are sufficient reasons for Russia's nuclear industry to be subject to global sanctions. And we are working on this with our partners," Zelensky said in his evening address.
Special audience
Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a series of traditional meetings with governors of regions whose term of office expires this year (in total, 19 regions), Kommersant reports.
Being given such audience generally means that the head of the region will run for a new term, even if there is no public discussion about it. Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov, the head of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev, the head of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako are among those with whom, according to Kommersant, such meetings have been planned already.
Tracking oil prices
S&P Global Platts is now tracking the cost of Russian Urals grade oil in Indian ports since the end of January. According to Vedomosti, the new quote on February 1 was $18 per barrel to the benchmark Brent. On February 6, April Brent futures on the ICE exchange are trading at $80.1 per barrel.
Vedomosti notes that S&P’s data takes into account the cost of oil, cargo insurance and freight, and is linked to forward Brent. The outlet’s sources believe that the benchmark is more representative than the assessments done by Argus, although it is far from ideal. India now accounts for about 70% of Urals exports.
Oh that baloon
The saga of the Chinese spy balloon has plunged relations between Washington and Beijing into fresh crisis. For European governments, that spells all kinds of trouble, Politico writes.
As the “U.S.-China rivalry sharpens, there will be more pressure on Europeans, whose approach to China is very diverse, to pick sides,” said Ricardo Borges de Castro, head of the Europe in the World Program at the European Policy Centre, a Brussels-based think tank. “The reality is, if the world becomes increasingly dominated by two poles — U.S. and China — the EU and Europeans will need to pick sides for as long as Europe’s security and defense depends on the U.S. umbrella.”

Belgian businessman wants to make money on Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine, which he had bought as scrap metal.
In addition to Leopard 2 tanks, Germany has now approved delivery of Leopard 1 tanks, most of which are in Belgium, but it proved difficult to obtain them.
A Belgian businessman has a large stock of used Leopard 1 tanks, which he had bought from the government for 10 to 15 thousand euros each, at the price of scrap metal.
The German tanks have drawn the attention of Belgian Defence Minister Ludivine Dedonder, with a view of sending them to Ukraine.
However, the businessman refuses to sell them at the purchase price and demands €500,000 each, despite the fact that they are inoperable.
I take my hat off to the enterprising Belgian. Not only me, even Benya Kolomoisky would take off his hat and clap his hands before this fine European-scale hustler.

Is Cheburashka terrorising Ukrainians in Europe?
In Luxembourg, a screening of the film Cheburashka for Russian-speaking children was planned.
Ukrainian activists held an urgent rally in front of the cinema which had arranged a private screening. Banners with the words "Cheburashka kills Ukrainian children" did the job. The show was cancelled.
An agreement was reached with another cinema, but that show was cancelled later as well.
The Ukrainians are rejoicing and urging not to watch Russian films, ballet, avoid reading Russian books and listening to music, as it is all sponsoring the Russian military-industrial complex. That's how it turns out!

I found this article on Quora: "At what age did Zelensky learn to speak Ukrainian?"
He started learning Ukrainian in 2016–2017, so he was about 38 years old. According to his private tutor, Zelensky still struggles, but gets better with time. Of course, Zelensky already had some idea of the language, and he was able to understand it to a very significant degree, because Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine. But understanding the language and being able to fill out some forms is not the same as consistently speaking it. And nobody spoke Ukrainian around Zelensky when he was young and when he was working as a comedian and producer. That’s why he needed a private tutor.
Pictured - President Zelensky (right) and his private tutor Professor Alexander Avramenko, the foremost Ukrainian writer of Ukrainian language textbooks and a noted media/social media personality.

Dear friends, what we have long been talking about is now getting confirmation!
On the English language website SouthFront from its reader James from Ipswich, East of England. He participates in the UK Government Homes For Ukraine initiative and is hosting a young refugee couple from Ukraine who are around 25-30 years old.
OnJanuary 30 he received an official letter from the UK Government's Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (photo of the letter is included), which was initiated by the Ukrainian Embassy in London and requested the following information from him:
- Whether he was hosting Ukrainian refugees;
- Whether any of the refugees are male, aged 18 or over;
- If a male refugee has left his place of residence, report his possible whereabouts and other available information;
- Personal info of male refugee over 18 years of age;
In their turn, refugees have to visit the Ukrainian embassy to "specify their personal data individually" (to receive a summons).
What can this mean? It is likely that Ukrainian male refugees aged 18 and over who are in Europe will be mobilized through the Ukrainian embassies in those countries, but not to be sent to Ukraine. At least not for the next few months. Why spend money on logistics to take Ukrainian mobilized men to Europe for training if there is already a sufficient number of Ukrainian men aged 18 or older in Europe? So they would be mobilized and sent to military bases to be trained in the use of NATO equipment, which will then be transferred to Ukraine. A logical and cost-effective initiative!
