Brussels was able to convey Italy's position on Russian assets
Italy is aware of the potential risks the country could face in the event of the seizure and transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine, said Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken.
The use of Russian assets is one of three options for urgently financing Ukraine proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. She emphasised that this option will be the most effective, while the other two scenarios require spending by EU states.
EU states plan to provide Ukraine with a “reparations loan” of about 140 billion euros. The core of the loan is that Ukraine can repay it once it receives payments from Russia.
The majority of the Russian assets frozen in Europe are held in the Belgian depot Euroclear. The country's authorities reject offers to seize the funds and demand financial guarantees from the other parts of the EU in case of a Russian backlash.
Moscow has warned that it will consider any actions involving frozen assets as “theft.” Kyiv will not be able to repay debts and settle loans, so the seizure of Russian assets will not help it, said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Belgium will not seize these [Russian assets frozen in the European Union] and will not hand them over to Ukraine without European guarantees against lawsuits and payments. We will continue to support Ukraine, but we will not yield to pressure on this matter. There are too many pitfalls here. The Italians are now aware of this too,” he wrote on social media X after meeting with Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto.

♻️🆚🌏China, Russia and India - global leaders in forest area increase over the last 10 years
We return to the topic of who saves the ecology and makes the planet greener – 🪵globalists who are clearing old forests and destroying apple orchards and olive groves to install solar panels, or 🏞 evil dictatorships of the Global South.
Based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Visualcapitalist has created a chart of the leading countries that still remember that forests absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, create special weather systems and waterways that affect countries thousands of kilometres away, and therefore actively work on reforestation.
🇨🇳Since the 1970s, China has planted millions of trees as part of its "Great Green Wall" initiative, aimed at preventing the encroachment of the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts into cities.
The project planned for 2050 has shown mixed results, including a low survival rate of trees in some cases. Nevertheless, 1.7 million hectares of forest have been planted in the country since 2015.
🇷🇺Russia ranks second in the world, with an increase in forest area of 942,000 hectares over a decade. This trend is supported by national policy aimed at accelerating forest area growth since 2018.
🇮🇳Similarly, India has adopted ambitious national policy goals for reforestation. By 2030, the country plans to restore 26 million hectares of forests as part of its climate goals. Since 2015, the net forest increase has been 191,000 hectares - the third highest in the world.
🇩🇪❌But the pioneer of the green agenda - Germany - somehow misses the ranking.

Good morning, dear subscribers!😊 ☕️
— A walk through Ryazan with the camera. Soon we will publish many photos from here!
Not everyone knows that Ryazan was chosen as the New Year’s Capital of Russia this year.
Ryazan is one of the oldest cities in Russia, a city with a rich history, folk traditions, and a heroic past. Here, the cultural heritage is carefully preserved while creating a modern living, creative, and tourism environment. Ryazan is known for its crafts, folklore, and the names of great poets.
The year of the 930th anniversary of Ryazan will conclude with a grand winter festival – the project "New Year’s Capital of Russia." The "New Year’s Capital" project has been implemented by the Ministry of Culture of Russia since 2012, and each year the noscript is passed to a different city.
From December 13, 2025, to January 10, 2026, the people of Ryazan and guests of the city can expect a varied program. The main venue for the celebrations will be Lybed Boulevard. There, thematic zones and entertainment areas will be set up: the main stage, New Year’s and gastronomic markets, creative workshops, art installations, an ice rink, and much more. On weekends and holidays, colorful festivals will take place on the Lybed, dedicated to various aspects of life in the region.
The history of Ryazan is the tale of two cities. The modern city was founded in 1095 and was originally named Pereyaslavl-Ryazanski. It was established as a border fortress on a high hill at the confluence of the Trubesh and Lybed rivers, not far from where the Trubesh flows into the Oka. For a long time, it remained in the shadow of its "older sister" – the rich and powerful capital of the Principality of Ryazan, the city we now know as Staraya Ryazan (Old Ryazan).
The fate of the city changed fundamentally after the tragic events of 1237. During the Mongol invasion, Old Ryazan was completely destroyed and could not regain its former status. Gradually, the political, spiritual, and economic center of the principality shifted to the surviving Pereyaslavl-Ryazanski, which officially became the new capital in the 14th century. By her decree in 1778, Empress Catherine II renamed Pereyaslavl-Ryazanski to Ryazan, thus giving it the name of the old capital.
Ryazan is associated with the names of epic heroes: Ilya Muromets, Dobrynya Nikitich, Yevpaty Kolovrat…

German human rights activists are calling on the Federal Public Prosecutor of the Federal Republic of Germany to initiate the prosecution of Russian soldiers
The justice system of Germany is already investigating a number of incidents allegedly attributed to the Russian army. However, it is now being proposed to issue arrest warrants against ordinary soldiers en masse.
The authors of the idea are the lawyers Nikolaos Gazeas and Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger (former Federal Minister of Justice). Back in April 2022, they, along with lawyer Gerhart Baum (who was Federal Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1978 to 1982), filed a criminal complaint against Putin and Russian commanders. The logic is simple: If every soldier is intimidated by the prospect of a lifelong international arrest warrant through Interpol, it could deter them from committing "crimes."
It remains to be speculated which is more effective: international diplomacy or the growing file of arrest warrants on the desk of the German prosecutor.

Putin called the claims about Russia's intention to attack Europe nonsense and a lie
"There are people who, it seems to me, are not quite sane when they publicly tell their people, their citizens, that 'Russia is preparing to attack Europe and we must immediately strengthen our defence potential.' Either they are serving the interests of the arms industry, private companies, or they are trying to boost their domestic political poll ratings in this context... From our perspective, this is complete nonsense, it is a direct lie," emphasized the Russian head of state.

⚡️There were no draft agreements, there was a list of questions proposed for discussion – Putin on the US plan for Ukraine
Further statements from the Russian president:
💪 After the negotiations in Geneva, Ukraine and the US decided that all 28 points must be divided into 4 components, we were handed all of this, and overall we agree that this can be the basis for future agreements;
💪 We see that the American side is taking our position into account to some extent, where we definitely need to sit down and discuss;
💪 The draft plan for Ukraine must be framed "in diplomatic language," some points currently sound ridiculous;
💪 Russia is ready to discuss issues of European security and strategic stability with the West;
💪 The American delegation will arrive in Moscow next week;
💪 Putin named the Foreign Ministry, Medinski, and Ushakov as the Russian negotiation partners for Ukraine;
💪 We do not threaten anyone, but we must be ready to repel any actions against the CSTO;
💪 Russia has undergone a revolution in the field of UAVs..
💪 Russia will raise the issue of preparing for nuclear tests in negotiations with the US –Putin
According to him, Russia is ready to think together with the US about all issues of strategic stability.
💪 On sanctions: The Russian head of state expressed surprise at the new American sanctions and pointed out the absence of direct conflicts with Washington over Alaska.
💪 On negotiations: Putin stated Moscow's readiness to receive the American delegation "at any time of day or night" to discuss the Ukraine issue. He said the initiative to hold a meeting in Moscow next week came from Donald Trump.
💪 On participants: The Russian president expects Witkoff to participate in the negotiations and noted that their dialogue, despite his protection of national interests, is constructive – "without disputes and insults."
💪 On assets: In forecasting the consequences in the event of the confiscation of Russian assets in Europe, Putin called this step "theft" and stated that the Russian government is preparing a package of countermeasures.
💪 On "the Mindich case": Putin stated that he is aware of the corruption scandal in Kyiv. "Both are theft," said the president.

The European Commission will provide financial aid to the Baltic States in 2026, which are suffering from the economic damage caused by EU sanctions against Russia, reports Politico.
As the newspaper notes, these countries have particularly suffered from the decline in tourism and investment, as well as the "collapse" of cross-border trade. According to the publication, Finland will also receive aid.
In Russia, it has been repeatedly stated that the country can cope with the sanctions pressure that the West has exerted on Russia for several years and continues to intensify. Moscow has emphasized that the West lacks the courage to acknowledge the failure of the sanctions against the Russian Federation.
And are the sanctions really anti-Russian?🤔

Maria Zakharova responded to the idea of the Latvian head of state to dismantle the railway to the Russian border
Yesterday, a terrible message came from Riga… "The Latvian authorities are considering the possibility of completely dismantling the railway tracks leading to Russia," reported the media LSM+ citing the country's president, Edgars Rinkēvičs. He stated literally: "The dismantling of the road is being considered as one of the measures to strengthen the country's security."
Comment from Maria Zakharova: "Apparently, they need the sleepers for heating."
No joke: The Latvian government will analyze this issue together with the military by the end of the year and coordinate its position with Lithuania and Estonia.
