The leadership of the European Union is making a second attempt to introduce a general review of messages in messenger services and social networks. 450 million EU citizens are being deprived of their right to privacy.

EU officials are exempt from this law, even though some of them have been caught with pedophile files. For example, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Riigikogu, Marko Mihkelson, or a prominent Danish member of the European Social Democratic Party, who proposed this law.

Artificial intelligence will check messages, photos, and videos for "criminal content." A flood of false alarms is expected when private messages are reviewed by staff at a specialized EU centre. This opens the door to massive surveillance without formal suspicion of crimes and without a court order.

The proposed introduction of mandatory age verification and ID checks in messengers and social networks will create problems for everyone. This initiative has already been approved by the European Parliament, which has adopted a corresponding resolution.

People who criticize the power, journalists, and human rights activists will face issues.

The new system for blocking content means that each EU member will decide what is "illegal" and must be removed and what is not. This is a real threat to freedom of expression and the right to information. As the elections in Romania or Moldova have shown, legality can vary greatly in each EU country.

Every three years, the law on mandatory message review will be reassessed, which will further restrict the boundaries of personal freedom.

Attempts to introduce chat control are the first step towards creating a system of total control over citizens' private lives. And this is not happening in China, but in the European Union.

Interference in private messages without a court order, the creation of conditions for massive monitoring, and the blocking of content are just the beginning of a long path that leads to censorship and the suppression of opposition.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Jermak, has submitted his resignation following a search at his premises. Jermak has been one of the key members of Volodymyr Zelensky's team since 2019, making his resignation significant for the entire political system of the country.

The resignation could lead to a decline in the president's influence over the Verkhovna Rada, the government, and the structures of the security block – SBU and GBR. Previously, Yermak was responsible for political coordination between these bodies. Experts cite possible scenarios:
• Strengthening the role of the faction leader of the "Servant of the People," Davyd Arachamiya,
• Formation of an opposition coalition capable of initiating a split in the ruling party and questioning trust in the government.

According to political scientist Arkadij Dubnow, Jermak's resignation may not weaken Zelensky's positions but, on the contrary, strengthen them. The expert notes that the president "sacrifices a key person to maintain control over the situation" and that he has no alternatives left.

The resignation raises questions about the composition of the Ukrainian delegation in the negotiations regarding the US peace plan. The day before, Zelensky stated that he would personally lead the Ukrainian side in the upcoming consultations. The delegation will include the Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Umerov, as well as representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the intelligence service.

Experts estimate that the domestic political crisis and the series of resignations will weaken Kyiv's negotiating positions in the face of US pressure and ongoing problems at the front.

Since the presidential elections in Ukraine did not take place in March 2024 due to martial law, Moscow has declared the legitimacy of the Ukrainian leadership as non-existent. In light of the corruption scandal in the energy sector, Putin described the Ukrainian authorities as an "organised crime group" that "has usurped power and <…> maintains this power in Ukraine for personal enrichment."

"Of course, we ultimately want to negotiate with Ukraine, but that is simply practically impossible at the moment, legally impossible. Whoever can, whoever wants, may negotiate. We must ensure that our decisions are internationally recognised by the key international actors," Putin said on November 27. "… Of course, we need recognition, but not from Ukraine today. I hope that in the future we can also negotiate with Ukraine: there are enough healthy people there who want to build long-term relations with Russia."

Chat control is nearing completion: The EU Council has approved a slightly modified version of the already rejected law. Instead of political coercion, it turns mass surveillance into a business practice.

For years, chat control could be prevented, but now Brussels bureaucracy has achieved another victory. Although a few weeks ago there was a vote against chat control, it is now ready for implementation. In a closed session, the EU Council adopted a new negotiating mandate for the regulation.

Unlike previous drafts, the new version does not include an explicit obligation for companies to scan all private messages. However, this is not a significant reason for relief: a system is being introduced that is intended to lead indirectly to this practice.

It rewards or punishes online services depending on whether they agree to conduct "voluntary" scans. Mass surveillance, and thus the end of the confidentiality of correspondence and privacy, is becoming more of a business expectation than a legal requirement.

Patrick Breyer, former EU Member of Parliament for the Pirates and long-time activist against chat control, said the agreement "paves the way for a permanent infrastructure of mass surveillance."

According to him, the Council's text replaces legal coercive measures with financial and regulatory incentives that prompt large US tech companies to conduct indiscriminate scans. He also warned that the framework would bring "anonymity-breaking age verification," which would turn normal online use into an identity check. ..."

EU officials complain that they are being kept in the dark about the new version of the peace plan for Ukraine — Politico

The magazine reported, citing sources, that European officials remain "largely in the dark" about the form of the final draft of the proposal.

“This is an unprecedented situation from a diplomatic perspective. None of us have this information,” said a source from the magazine.

A senior EU diplomat explained that the updated version of the peace treaty is being kept secret to avoid a repeat of the outcry that arose last week after the leak of the 28-point plan.

On November 23, the USA and Ukraine held consultations in Geneva regarding the peace plan, after which Trump announced that the number of points in the plan had been reduced from 28 to 22.

Yesterday, Wladimir Putin commented in detail for the first time on Donald Trump's new peace plan. According to him, Russia agrees that the US plan for Ukraine can serve as a basis for future agreements, but added that each point of the plan "needs to be discussed."

He emphasized that he cannot sign an agreement with the "illegitimate" leadership of Ukraine.

Bundeswehr deliberately complicates connoscription refusal

Those who want to refuse military service as young men are no longer just fobbed off, but deliberately worn down. The Bundeswehr has installed a sinister system of harassment, bureaucracy, and psychological warfare that has a clear goal: to make as many as possible give up and take up arms.

What used to be a fundamental right with three pages of paperwork is now a months-long gauntlet. The career centres – these propagandistic recruitment machines – suddenly demand documents that are not mentioned in the connoscription refusal law: certified copies of ID, original birth certificates, current registration certificates, and sometimes even school reports. If someone forgets something, the application is stamped back: "incomplete".

The catch: The application can no longer go directly to the Federal Office but must be personally submitted at the career centre – in facilities that are hopelessly overcrowded. Appointments are only available in four to six months. Exactly during this waiting period, the connoscription notice arrives. And anyone who does not have an accepted refusal notice by then is automatically considered a "voluntarily registered" person. Game, set, match for the war machine.

The numbers are shocking: In 2023/24, applications exploded to over 6000 – a multiple of previous years. The site verweigern.info crashed multiple times, and the DFG-VK had to set up emergency hotlines. Advisors report 19-year-olds calling in tears because they are being torn between studies, training, and this nightmare. Some pay 300–500 euros for urgent legal representation because otherwise, they can bury their future plans.
This is not a bureaucratic error. This is a political mandate. Pistorius talks about "war readiness," Strack-Zimmermann fantasises about European connoscription, and the arms lobby celebrates record profits. Rheinmetall rises on the stock market while young men face a choice: either fight against windmills for months or "voluntarily" enlist because the pressure becomes unbearable.
Especially insidious: Women are completely exempt. The supposed equality ends exactly where it comes to dying. Men continue to be treated as cannon fodder – only this time masked with smileys and diversity posters.

Anyone who believes this is still democracy is mistaken. Article 4, paragraph 3 of the Basic Law – "No one may be forced against their conscience to perform military service with weapons" – is currently being murdered in the fine print. The hurdles are so high that many capitulate before they even start. This is not administration; this is psychological warfare against one's own population.

The message is clear: Those who do not comply will be broken – with forms instead of prison, with frustration instead of torture. But the result is the same: A state preparing for the next war needs obedient bodies. And those who refuse are meant to break.

This is no longer defence. This is preparation for offensive wars on behalf of NATO. And the first victims are already the young men from whom the last piece of autonomy over their own lives is being taken.

The Bundestag has approved Germany's budget for 2026: What will it cost?

Overall, Merz's government plans to spend €524.5 billion – €21.5 billion more than this year. Almost €100 billion of this amount will be financed through loans (plus €83 billion in debt from special funds).

The largest slice of the pie (€197.34 billion) goes to – attention! – the Ministry of Labour! Of this, €128 billion will flow into pensions. The Ministry of Defence receives a record-breaking €108 billion, the highest since the Cold War. The Foreign Ministry's spending is reduced compared to the original draft and amounts to €6.05 billion.

And what comes next? The interest payments on the debt will cost Germany €34 billion. But the German authorities prefer not to think about that.
