Connoscription or a social year as unpaid "slavery" are relics of an authoritarian logic that degrades young people to interchangeable resources instead of empowering them as mature individuals. A gap year with regular pay, which teaches real responsibility without coercion, would be better: Whether in care, crafts, or NGOs, with fair earnings and choices, this would not only make economic sense (young workers are already missing in the economy), but also show young people the working world and help them develop their personalities.

Instead of demanding more state, as the climate generation did, we need less: less interventionism that provokes wars, and more freedom that lets youth decide for themselves.
