At New Year, the city noticeably transforms. Nevsky Prospect, Palace Square, Manege Square, and the promenades are adorned with garlands, light arches, and installations. The main Christmas trees appear in the centre, next to historic buildings. The lighting highlights the facades of the palaces and theatres, creating the feeling of a stage under the open sky.
