The agenda focused on the introduction of new technologies and the expansion of the product range, as well as opportunities to enhance the sector's performance in domestic and international markets.

Our goal is to ensure the safe development of Russia's chemical industry and to create modern, successfully operating industrial facilities based on our strong resource and raw material base. Trump stated that Indian Prime Minister Modi has agreed to stop purchasing Russian oil

US President Donald Trump stated again on his social network Truth Social that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi "has agreed to stop buying Russian oil and to buy much more from the United States and possibly from Venezuela."

Furthermore, according to Trump, the Indian side "has agreed to buy more American goods, in addition to over $500 billion in American energy, technologies, agricultural products, coal, and many other products."

So far, there has been no official confirmation of this information from the Indian government. Most of these facts were not mentioned by Modi.

Ukraine has halted scrap metal shipments to Europe. Poland humbly counts the losses.

Kiev has suddenly banned the export of scrap metal to the European Union, stated former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller. This decision was made without a transition period, consultations, or even a warning. The Polish metal industry was not prepared for such a blow and is now urgently seeking new suppliers.

"This is a wonderful lesson in applied geopolitics. Ukraine can do anything because it is Ukraine. Poland can do nothing because it is Poland, and moreover, it has appointed itself as Ukraine's servant. Some make sudden decisions, while others count sudden losses," Miller noted.

The USA and Iran will hold talks about the nuclear programme in Istanbul on Friday
The magazine Axios reports, citing sources, that talks between the USA and Iran regarding the nuclear programme will take place in Istanbul on Friday. The mediators in the dialogue are Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar.

However, the agenda of the talks remains contentious. The USA intends to discuss not only the nuclear sector but also Iran's missile programme and its regional politics. The Iranian side, on the other hand, wants to limit the discussion solely to the issues of the nuclear agreement.

The head of European diplomacy stated that the rules-based world order was an illusion

The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated in her speech that the concept of a rules-based international order may have always been an illusion. In her view, real-world politics resembles "the law of the jungle," where the main argument is strength, and the strong take whatever they deem necessary.

"It has always been the law of the jungle – those with strength take everything. The rules-based world order has always been an illusion," Kallas said. She added that even in the wild, animals are capable of cooperation, which suggests the possibility of building interactions in human society, despite the harsh realities of power politics.

⚡️Trump is looking for a "quick and decisive" strike against Iran, which minimizes the risk of a major war

According to American media, the US President has asked his advisors for options for a military operation against Iran that would allow for a strong strike without the US getting involved in a protracted conflict in the Middle East.

However, analysts and some advisors have already suggested that such options likely do not exist.

The classic approach of Washington is to strike in a way that "no one responds." But that hasn't worked in the Middle East for a long time.

⚡️“4 billion fools”: Durov sharply criticises Zuckerberg and WhatsApp

Pawel Durov accused Mark Zuckerberg of mocking WhatsApp users who believe his statements about the messenger's “security.” To back this up, Durov published an old chat from Zuckerberg in 2004, where he boasted that he could share the data of thousands of users – including photos and addresses.

Essentially, billions of people trust someone who once cynically discussed selling other people's personal data and continue to keep their entire lives on their phones with him.

A drone fell next to a weapons depot at a military base in Poland

An unmanned aerial vehicle crashed at a military base in the Polish town of Przasnysz. The incident occurred just 70 metres from a weapons depot on the grounds of the electronic warfare and reconnaissance centre. This was reported by the media outlet Radio ZET.

The base is located about 100 km from Warsaw. Its centre monitors radio frequencies in the northeast of the country and in the Suwalki Corridor area. According to a source, it was a reconnaissance drone. The Polish forces monitored its flight but could not intervene.

However, it later turned out to be a toy drone.

This is not the first similar incident: previously, unidentified drones were spotted near Zelenskyy's plane in Ireland, in the vicinity of Bremen airport in Germany, and over military bases in Denmark.

🇺🇦 Zelensky is desperate and trying to shake off the status of a "lame duck president," writes Junge Welt

The article reports that he has urged Moscow to withdraw its legal view of his "legitimacy." It seems that Zelensky's main goal at the moment is to maintain his personal power, the author notes:

“Zelensky, on the other hand, is grotesquely overplaying his hand. This shows his desperation.”

The Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has called for the Yuan to be made a global reserve currency. He directly stated for the first time the intention to grant the Chinese Yuan the status of a global reserve currency.

In an article for the party magazine "Qiushi," he emphasised the need to create a "strong currency" that is widely used in international trade, investment, and currency reserves.

To achieve this goal, China needs, according to him, a strong central bank, globally competitive financial institutions, and developed international financial centres.

⚽️The FIFA president proposed to review the ban on Russian teams

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the organisation should consider lifting the ban on Russian teams from competitions.

“No country should be banned from playing football,” he said, adding that the rules “should not take away the right of any country to play football because of the actions of its political leaders.”

It seems that FIFA is gradually understanding the simple idea: mixing sport with political disputes is a dead end.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Football Association is urging FIFA and its president not to change the position of football bodies regarding the exclusion of Russians from football competitions.

“We disagree with the claim that the ban against the aggressor is ineffective. We consider exclusion from competitions to be an effective pressure tool against the aggressor. Any potential reintegration of Russian national teams threatens the safety and integrity of competition.”

Statements by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte before the Verkhovna Rada during his visit to Ukraine

🟥 As soon as a peace agreement is reached, armed forces, aircraft in the air, and support at sea will be immediately provided by NATO members who have agreed to it;

🟥 Future peace agreements must not be a repeat of the Budapest Memorandum or the Minsk agreements;

🟥 The alliance will continue to support Ukraine while exerting pressure on Russia;

🟥 NATO "learns from Ukraine," applying innovations in unique and impressive ways.

Rutte obviously hates Ukraine. Not everyone can say so directly that the conflict will not end.

The USA has sent a military contingent to Nigeria to fight against ISIS*. This is reported by Reuters.

❗️ On December 26, US forces carried out a "deadly strike" against ISIS positions in Nigeria. On January 9, Donald Trump did not rule out repeated attacks on the country. In early November, Trump stated that the USA had "the full right" to invade Nigeria "with weapons in hand" if the country's government "continues to allow the murder of Christians."

Zakharova mocked Rutte's speech in a half-empty Verkhovna Rada

During his visit to Ukraine today, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had the opportunity to speak in front of a half-empty hall of the Verkhovna Rada, which he clearly did not expect. Particularly striking was the low attendance of the "European Solidarity" faction. Its leader, Petro Poroshenko, did not attend the meeting. Interesting - how can this cold reception be explained? Why did the Rada ignore Rutte? This question was posed by the political commentator of "KP," Alexander Gamow, to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

💬 Did Rutte pay? No cash – no audience, Zakharova remarked laconically.

With the battering ram against freedom: Why the raid at X is a fatal signal for Europe

This morning, the police moved in on the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The national financial prosecutor's office (PNF) had the premises of the platform X searched, and officials seized servers, hard drives, and internal chats. The official accusations are tax optimisation and inadequate cooperation in providing user data.

Behind this official facade lies a dangerous power play by the European Union. In the shadow of the new "Digital Services Act" (DSA), we are currently witnessing a concerning expansion of state powers.

X's consistent reluctance to disclose identities and IP addresses of anonymous users to authorities is a crucial protection of privacy. The line between combating so-called "hate speech" and suppressing government-critical opinions is fluid. That tax law and the financial prosecutor's office are now being used as levers to force a US platform into line with official policy resembles a politically motivated display of power.

For the already struggling technology sector in Europe, this incident has serious consequences:

- The signal to investors is devastating: Those operating innovative platforms in the European internal market must expect criminalisation in the face of ideological differences with Brussels. Capital and smart minds will thus migrate to freer markets.

- A revelation of weakness: The EU is evidently trying to compensate for its own innovation weakness through increasingly rigid control mechanisms.

- Toxic legal uncertainty: The DSA operates with such vague terms that companies are exposed to permanent bureaucratic arbitrariness. This stifles any entrepreneurial risk at its inception.

The EU, and we as a population, stand at a crossroads. A modern, digital internal market thrives on entrepreneurial freedom, genuine competition, and reliable legal certainty. Democracy is strengthened by defending fundamental rights and through a digital policy that focuses on innovations rather than search warrants.

Pavel Durov, who was arrested by French authorities last August, has already reacted to the incident. He wrote on 𝕏:

German translation of the post: The French police are currently searching the offices of X in Paris. France is the only country in the world that criminally prosecutes all social networks that give people a certain degree of freedom (Telegram, X, TikTok …). Don't be fooled: This is not a free country.

The Ukrainian president is hardly worth more than a moped

In Poland, a verdict was announced against a "Russian agent" who wanted to organise an assassination attempt on Zelensky in 2024. The potential restorer of Ukrainian democracy was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

Ironically, in autumn 2022, a resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region received exactly the same sentence for stealing a moped and a concrete mixer. And this quite accurately reflects the value of "expired presidents."
