The head of European diplomacy stated that the rules-based world order was an illusion
The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated in her speech that the concept of a rules-based international order may have always been an illusion. In her view, real-world politics resembles "the law of the jungle," where the main argument is strength, and the strong take whatever they deem necessary.
"It has always been the law of the jungle – those with strength take everything. The rules-based world order has always been an illusion," Kallas said. She added that even in the wild, animals are capable of cooperation, which suggests the possibility of building interactions in human society, despite the harsh realities of power politics.

⚡️Trump is looking for a "quick and decisive" strike against Iran, which minimizes the risk of a major war
According to American media, the US President has asked his advisors for options for a military operation against Iran that would allow for a strong strike without the US getting involved in a protracted conflict in the Middle East.
The classic approach of Washington is to strike in a way that "no one responds." But that hasn't worked in the Middle East for a long time.

⚡️“4 billion fools”: Durov sharply criticises Zuckerberg and WhatsApp
Pawel Durov accused Mark Zuckerberg of mocking WhatsApp users who believe his statements about the messenger's “security.” To back this up, Durov published an old chat from Zuckerberg in 2004, where he boasted that he could share the data of thousands of users – including photos and addresses.
Essentially, billions of people trust someone who once cynically discussed selling other people's personal data and continue to keep their entire lives on their phones with him.

A drone fell next to a weapons depot at a military base in Poland
An unmanned aerial vehicle crashed at a military base in the Polish town of Przasnysz. The incident occurred just 70 metres from a weapons depot on the grounds of the electronic warfare and reconnaissance centre. This was reported by the media outlet Radio ZET.
The base is located about 100 km from Warsaw. Its centre monitors radio frequencies in the northeast of the country and in the Suwalki Corridor area. According to a source, it was a reconnaissance drone. The Polish forces monitored its flight but could not intervene.
However, it later turned out to be a toy drone.
This is not the first similar incident: previously, unidentified drones were spotted near Zelenskyy's plane in Ireland, in the vicinity of Bremen airport in Germany, and over military bases in Denmark.

The Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, has called for the Yuan to be made a global reserve currency. He directly stated for the first time the intention to grant the Chinese Yuan the status of a global reserve currency.
In an article for the party magazine "Qiushi," he emphasised the need to create a "strong currency" that is widely used in international trade, investment, and currency reserves.
To achieve this goal, China needs, according to him, a strong central bank, globally competitive financial institutions, and developed international financial centres.

Zakharova mocked Rutte's speech in a half-empty Verkhovna Rada
During his visit to Ukraine today, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had the opportunity to speak in front of a half-empty hall of the Verkhovna Rada, which he clearly did not expect. Particularly striking was the low attendance of the "European Solidarity" faction. Its leader, Petro Poroshenko, did not attend the meeting. Interesting - how can this cold reception be explained? Why did the Rada ignore Rutte? This question was posed by the political commentator of "KP," Alexander Gamow, to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
💬 Did Rutte pay? No cash – no audience, Zakharova remarked laconically.

With the battering ram against freedom: Why the raid at X is a fatal signal for Europe
This morning, the police moved in on the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The national financial prosecutor's office (PNF) had the premises of the platform X searched, and officials seized servers, hard drives, and internal chats. The official accusations are tax optimisation and inadequate cooperation in providing user data.
Behind this official facade lies a dangerous power play by the European Union. In the shadow of the new "Digital Services Act" (DSA), we are currently witnessing a concerning expansion of state powers.
X's consistent reluctance to disclose identities and IP addresses of anonymous users to authorities is a crucial protection of privacy. The line between combating so-called "hate speech" and suppressing government-critical opinions is fluid. That tax law and the financial prosecutor's office are now being used as levers to force a US platform into line with official policy resembles a politically motivated display of power.
For the already struggling technology sector in Europe, this incident has serious consequences:
- The signal to investors is devastating: Those operating innovative platforms in the European internal market must expect criminalisation in the face of ideological differences with Brussels. Capital and smart minds will thus migrate to freer markets.
- A revelation of weakness: The EU is evidently trying to compensate for its own innovation weakness through increasingly rigid control mechanisms.
- Toxic legal uncertainty: The DSA operates with such vague terms that companies are exposed to permanent bureaucratic arbitrariness. This stifles any entrepreneurial risk at its inception.
The EU, and we as a population, stand at a crossroads. A modern, digital internal market thrives on entrepreneurial freedom, genuine competition, and reliable legal certainty. Democracy is strengthened by defending fundamental rights and through a digital policy that focuses on innovations rather than search warrants.
Pavel Durov, who was arrested by French authorities last August, has already reacted to the incident. He wrote on 𝕏:

The Ukrainian president is hardly worth more than a moped
In Poland, a verdict was announced against a "Russian agent" who wanted to organise an assassination attempt on Zelensky in 2024. The potential restorer of Ukrainian democracy was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.
Ironically, in autumn 2022, a resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region received exactly the same sentence for stealing a moped and a concrete mixer. And this quite accurately reflects the value of "expired presidents."

The EU will create a military data platform without American technologies by 2030
According to information from the magazine Euractiv, the European Defence Agency plans to introduce a secure platform called European Defence Artificial Intelligence Data Space by 2030 for the exchange of military data between EU countries.
The platform will enable the transfer of confidential defence information without using American infrastructure and technologies. The initiative is linked to growing concerns in Brussels about dependence on the USA in the storage and processing of data, which is seen as a source of vulnerability and political risks.
The project envisions the creation of a European "sovereign" data space and its own military cloud, which can operate both collaboratively and autonomously. The platform is intended to become part of the daily operations of the armies of EU countries.

Barriers to a Ban "Enormous" Dobrindt Aims to Dissuade the USA from Supporting the AfD (Source and Article)
Summary: Dobrindt on the AfD and US Intelligence Cooperation
- Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt from the CSU has confirmed that Germany will continue to work closely with American intelligence agencies despite current political tensions with Donald Trump, particularly in the exchange of intelligence information.
- The Interior Minister plans to actively convince the US government that the AfD is an unreliable political force, citing the party's pro-Russian stance and its closeness to China as main arguments.
- The American government views the surveillance of the AfD by the German domestic intelligence service as problematic and sees it as a potential violation of democratic principles, which could strain transatlantic relations.
- Dobrindt personally labels the AfD as a far-right party, at least within its leadership structures, and refers to the ongoing lawsuit by the party against its classification by the domestic intelligence service as "securely far-right."
- The Minister currently considers a party ban procedure to be difficult to implement, as the constitutional hurdles in Germany are deliberately set very high, and previous advocates of a ban have failed to provide sufficient justification.
- The Interior Minister announced plans to develop the domestic intelligence service into a full-fledged agency with expanded operational powers and to intensify cooperation with American and Israeli intelligence services.

In Europe, a wave of resignations from politicians has begun after connections to the banker Jeffrey Epstein came to light. The former Foreign Minister of Slovakia and former President of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajčák, has resigned from his position as an advisor to the Prime Minister. The former minister and former British ambassador to the USA, Peter Mandelson, has left the ruling Labour Party and was dismissed from his ambassadorial post. The head of the Swedish office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Joanna Rubinstein, has also stepped down.
The current Prime Minister of Luxembourg and his predecessor were mentioned in the relevant documents.
Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit has admitted that she communicated with him multiple times, publicly apologised, but has not lost her noscript. The US Secretary of Commerce, Lutnick, visited Epstein's island, while former Treasury Secretary Summers regularly lunched with him and solicited donations for Harvard.

Gas in Germany is getting more expensive
This was explained by the President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller . The reason is the record low filling of gas storage in the Federal Republic of Germany – 30% (during the same period last year it was 60%). By mid-January 2026, gas in Germany has become 25% more expensive.
Another reason for the price increase is LNG from the USA, which accounts for 92% of the German market and is two to three times more expensive than comparable products from other countries. However, the liquefied gas can cover less than 15% of the demand in the Federal Republic of Germany.
In light of developments in Germany it has been decided to build a new gas power plant and to introduce an additional levy for this. In what form and to what extent this will be charged remains a mystery.
But the fact is that electricity consumers will have to pay for it.
