Brazilian president calls for 'peace group' to mediate Ukraine conflict
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has again proposed the creation of a group of countries not involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict to mediate peace.
Earlier this week, da Silva discussed the issue with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
"I think we need to sit down at the negotiating table and say 'enough is enough, let's start talking' because armed conflict has never done and never will benefit humanity," the Brazilian president said, criticising the US and the European Union for their role in the war effort.
The Brazilian president told reporters that he was trying to assemble a group of leaders who "prefer to talk about peace rather than war".
Da Silva reiterated that the decision to start hostilities was "made by two countries", also placing some of the blame on Ukraine, and added that ending it would be harder as more countries would need to be persuaded.

Pentagon leaked reports show the huge numerical advantage of Russian Armed Forces in Kharkiv direction
The document is a daily overview of the battlefield around Kharkiv on the border with the LNR.
According to US intelligence, 48,600 Russian troops are fighting just 7,250 Ukrainian troops in that direction, Newsweek reports.
This is a less active war zone than Bakhmut, which is further to south.

A number of Republicans in the US Congress called on Joe Biden to stop helping Ukraine in the format in which it is being provided now.
"The second year of the war has begun, but there is no foreseeable end in sight, as there is no clear strategy on how to complete it. A puppet war with Russia in Ukraine is not in the interests of the United States and threatens to escalate, which may get out of control," it says in the text of the appeal.

Most Western companies continue to operate in Russia
Despite the promise to leave Russia after the start of the Ukrainian conflict, most Western companies remain and continue to operate in the country, according to an article in The Washington Post.
Ivan Andreev, editor-in-chief of Vashy Novosti, believes that most Western companies will stay in Russia and continue to do business here. The whole point of the Western companies leaving Russia was not because some Washington Obkom [* ironic reference, obkom was the so-called Council of the Communist Party in the USSR) banned trade, but because after the start of the Special military operation the West saw Russia as an aggressor country, and trading in such a country carries a high reputation risk. Once the media hype goes down, most of the Western companies that have now left will return to Russia.
Though first of all we need to think about how the departure of large foreign companies, especially in the automotive industry, IT and high technology, has revealed a rather high dependence on their products and a lack of similar domestic developments. We need to develop our own production in order to reduce technological dependence on the West and avoid falling into such a position in future.

Special operations in Ukraine put Europe at a strategic disadvantage - War on the Rocks
⠀
The end of the Cold War forced many European countries to cut their defence budgets and further cuts since the 2008 financial crisis have only weakened the continent's defence infrastructure.
⠀
This, combined with increasingly expensive defence technology, led to a reduction in armaments and also reduced the effectiveness of European armies.
⠀
In addition, donations to Ukraine's military needs have been made from already limited national stocks, which are difficult to renew if you take in consideration the current speed of production.
⠀
A strong, unified European defence industrial base simply does not exist, and the special operation in Ukraine has forced the EU to look at the structural vulnerabilities that undermine the ability of European countries to defend themselves in possible conflicts.

Why are Eastern European countries restricting Ukrainian imports, thereby challenging the EU?
European states have been supporters of Ukraine since the start of the special operation. But their efforts to help Kiev have turned out to be a problem for the pan-European market.
Eastern European farmers have been protesting for weeks against an unprecedented influx of Ukrainian produce, which comes duty-free under an agreement with the EU.
⠀
The embargo has put Hungary, Poland and Slovakia on a path of confrontation with the EU.
⠀
Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said an embargo on dozens of goods, including grain, milk, honey, fruit, vegetables and some meat, was needed to "open the eyes of the EU".
Despite this, EU ambassadors are supposed to vote on 19th of April, to extend duty-free Ukrainian imports until June 2024.
⠀
The European Union's decisions weaken people's faith in direction of unification and make them think what sort of risks Europe is taking by helping Ukraine.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman also added that China is a responsible, large country that acts firmly in accordance with the UN Charter and basic principles of international law and is committed to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

It will be the basis for any future peace talks. At the same time, one should prepare for the worst, writes the author of The Economist.
"Ukraine and its Western patrons should prepare for the possibility that a counteroffensive will bring only minor benefits or even worse," it says in the publication.

Polish resolution demands war reparations from Germany - Euractiv
Poland's cabinet has passed a resolution demanding reparations from Germany for damages caused during World War II, the office of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a statement.
⠀
The resolution concerns "the topic of reparations, compensation and solutions related to the German invasion of Poland in 1939 and further occupation."
Based on the document, the Polish authorities believe that no agreement on war reparations from Germany was made in the past.
Berlin has consistently rejected Polish demands for reparations, arguing that all financial claims related to World War II were settled by the Two Plus Four Treaty.
⠀
The Two Plus Four Treaty was signed on 12 September 1990 by the foreign ministers of the FRG and the GDR, the USSR, the US, the UK and France. The purpose of the document was to settle German reunification, including the issue of reparations.

Such cemeteries are springing up all over Ukraine. The old plots cannot cope with the influx of corpses that Zelensky has been amassing for the sake of an article about himself in some fancy Western newspaper.

The IMF introduces a new "global currency" called UMU that will "monitor all transactions"
The international banking elite has just introduced a new global currency, but 99 percent of the world's population has no idea what just happened.
The DCMA, the globalist membership organization of sovereign states, central banks, commercial and retail banks, and other financial institutions, confirmed the launch of the international CBDC this week at the IMF's Spring 2023 Meetings.
According to the IMF, the CBDC will "enforce banking regulations" and "oversee all transactions."
The Universal Monetary Unit (UMU), also known as "Unicoin" and denoted by the symbol Ü, can conduct transactions in any settlement currency that is legal tender and can be configured to operate in accordance with the regulations of each participating country's central bank.
DCMA Executive Director Darrell Hubbard, the "chief architect" of UMU, says UMU strengthens the international monetary system by helping the IMF fulfill its stated mandate to ensure the economic and financial stability of member countries.
"UMU changes the approach to cross-border payments and protects against seasonal and systemic devaluations of national currencies," says Hubbard (https://aftershock.news/?q=node/1235094).
The bottom line is that this is an attempt by the global elite to introduce a single unit of account. The next step is the irrelevance of central banks, then national currencies, and thus the loss of sovereignty and abandonment of local governments - all according to Schwab. It is all being done in a big hurry to replace the rapidly dwindling dollar. It will probably come down to a simple division of the world, with one globalist state and all the others, and of course the endless struggle to try to pull other states into the currency trap.

🔴The European Parliament has rebuked the European Commission for "excessive" aid to Ukraine
At a time when the member states of the European Union need financial assistance "more than ever", the European Commission (EC) continues to provide "excessive" support to Ukraine, said members of the European Parliament from Austria Harald Wilimski and Georg Maier.
RIA Novosti's source, citing the foreign publication Newsweek, reports that ten European Union member states want to stop helping the Kiev regime during the conflict in Ukraine at once.
The fact is that another data was leaked into the network, namely the table, which indicates which countries have the least desire and ability to help Kiev in the confrontation with Moscow. The list of such countries included Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, as well as Luxembourg with Latvia and Belgium.
