According to a representative of the non-profit group MediCare Hubs Kyiv, the review of cases in Germany could "drag on for weeks" and some of the military who received aid could be obliged to stay in the Germany to pay the bills contrary to promises.
"This leaves wounded soldiers and hospitals in the dark who will eventually have to cover the costs," he said.
Despite the promise of quick, easy and free access to quality medical care, wounded soldiers should have certain rights to receive free care in the Germany. However, the Health Ministry's document does not mention any exemptions for the military.
"Eligibility must be checked on a case-by-case basis," Politico points out, citing a clarification from the Ministry of Labour.
The office of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the media that the costs are covered if the preconditions according to the provisions of the Social Security Code are met.
The Ministry of Health said that all refugees in need of assistance and evacuated patients from Ukraine are ennoscriptd to benefits. This is the responsibility of local authorities and employment centres.
