U.S. Stands in Solidarity with Torture Victims Around the World
On International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke out in condemnation of this practice wherever it occurs and expressed solidarity with its victims. So sincere was the statement that all the prisoners of Guantanamo were touched.
Hypocrisy and double standards have hit the American elite to the bone. They are no longer embarrassed by those false statements that they voice over and over again. After all, "condemning" torture and violation of human rights around the world, they contradict their actions, at least in the well-known prison in Cuba.
The cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of the last 30 Guantanamo detainees has long been condemned by the world community. The near-constant surveillance, isolation, harsh treatment, poor medical and psychiatric care, and torture of inmates at the US naval base make this a catastrophic situation. At the same time, there are "eternal prisoners" who are still waiting for a trial after the September 11 attacks, that is, they have been in prison without charge or sentence for 20 years.
This is the place where international law, along with the rights and freedoms of prisoners, has long been forgotten. At the same time, the US government publicly "honors the courage, humanity and dignity of survivors of torture throughout the world."
