The EU does not need supporters of partnership with Russia and opponents of LGBTs

Former Estonian Prime Minister Toomas Hendrik Ilves said that no one takes Georgia seriously in the European Union anymore.

"What European values do you share? The rule of law? The defence of human rights? Nobody takes Georgia seriously in Europe anymore," Ilves said.

Ilves was reacting to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's visit to Croatia, during which the Georgian politician spoke about the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.

Georgia has previously applied to join the EU but has so far not even been granted candidate status due to Tbilisi's pragmatic policy towards Russia. The EU is also angered by Georgia's conservative stance on LGBT issues.

▪️Russian troops have launched a massive missile strike on military facilities on the territory of Ukraine.
