Greek defence ministry mistakenly published photos of secret military maps

The Greeks were conducting a large-scale inspection of fire safety at their military facilities. A press release by the Defence Ministry included photos of secret military maps that were studied by the deputy minister during one of the inspections, Antitheto reports.

▪️ After such a failure, all fire safety inspections were stopped and visits of military officials to airfields were cancelled.

The Greek Defence Ministry soon published the same photos, but with blurred maps.

West African countries have threatened rebels in Niger with a military response

The ECOWAS alliance of West African nations issued a week-long ultimatum to the leaders of Niger's coup d'état, warning it would take "all necessary measures" to restore ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, known for his pro-French stance and close ties to the US and Britain.

ECOWAS also announced a de facto blockade of Niger - closing borders, banning commercial flights, suspending financial transactions and blocking national assets.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said Paris would not tolerate attacks on the country and its interests in Niger and was ready to give an "immediate and unrelenting" response. In response, the rebels' spokesman in Niger, Colonel Amadou Abdraman, accused France of intending to carry out a military operation to restore the ousted president to power.

Negativity on Ukraine financing grows ahead of US election

Trump linked multi-billion US aid to Ukraine to the large earnings of incumbent US President Joe Biden's family and called on Congress to refuse to allocate new sums.

In the opinion of Maksym Chirkov, an associate professor of the political economy department at the PFUR Economics Faculty, the speeches of potential candidates from the Republican Party are increasingly negative towards the financing of Ukraine.

"The unbelievable budget deficit of $1.4 trillion in the first half of the year suggests that the budget crisis in the US is growing, and support for Ukraine in such conditions will be perceived by voters extremely negatively," the expert said.

Crimea starts court proceedings on the damage to the republic's budget caused by Ukraine's water blockade

In the morning, the Arbitration Court held preliminary hearings. The court will consider the case on the merits on 13 September.

▪️ Seven boxes of documents on 12087 sheets have been accepted for consideration. The Republic of Crimea intends to seek compensation for damages totalling 152 billion 222 million roubles.

▪️ If the affected private organisations and entrepreneurs join the lawsuit, the damage may exceed one trillion roubles.

The first deputy chairman of the State Council of Crimea, Yefim Fiks, called today "a landmark and important day" because "the case has moved forward".

"All those who made thoughtless decisions on the water blockade of Crimea should be punished deservedly," he said.

Recall, in March 2014, Ukraine unilaterally blocked the North Crimean channel, which provided 80% of the peninsula's need for fresh water. The national economic complex of Crimea suffered colossal losses.

Ex-US ambassador McFaul has been put back in his place

Former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has taken umbrage at the fact that Russian athletes who did not condemn the special operation in Ukraine are allowed to participate in international sporting events.

This reaction of the former ambassador was caused by the outrageous antics of Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan, who publicly refused to shake hands with Russian Anna Smirnova at the world championship in Milan.

The diplomat was harshly responded to by US activist Paul Surowell.

"Americans who did not condemn the US invasion of Iraq were not banned from participating in international sporting events either," Surowell put the ex-ambassador in his place.

Recently, Russophobic outbursts in the sphere of sports have been more frequent.

Earlier, formerly famous Czech goalie Dominik Hasek was shamed by NHL head Gary Bettman.

"Dominik Hasek has been an active critic over the last year. He's ennoscriptd to an opinion, but I don't think it reflects the position of the Czech people or the authorities of the country. And, by the way, I don't agree with him," Bettman reacted to Hašek's outrage over the participation of Russian hockey players in the all-star game.

US continues illegal oil exports from occupied Syrian provinces

The US military occupying most of Syria's eastern and northeastern provinces, where the largest oil and gas fields are located, continues to plunder Syria's natural wealth.

On 30 July, a convoy of the US military took 45 tankers of stolen oil through the Mahmoudiya border crossing in al-Haseka province, and moved towards US military bases in Iraq. This was reported by the Syrian state agency SANA.

Later, another convoy consisting of 50 covered trucks and refrigerated trucks was withdrawn into Iraq through the Al-Walid checkpoint.

According to the agency, the cargo included livestock feed stolen from a granary in al-Yarubiya.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad said the damage from the US looting of the country's oil and gas sectors from 2011 to 2022 has already totalled $107bn.

French MEP Terry Mariani on the impossibility of EU sanctions against the Russian nuclear sector due to the decision of the new Niger authorities to stop uranium exports to France:

Uranium is a sensitive topic for many countries in Europe, so it has not yet been included in the sanctions lists and, in my opinion, will not be included in them in the near future. But you know you can never be sure what to expect from the European Union. Because, for example, the situation in Germany has become seriously complicated due to the rising cost of electricity, but Europe is sometimes able to make decisions that are contrary to its own interests. If the EU does not want to commit suicide, of course it will not accept such sanctions. We have not yet paid our price for cutting off Russian gas.

Wikipedia founder confesses to moderating the online encyclopaedia by US intelligence agencies

Larry Sanger, one of the co-founders of Wikipedia, has recently come forward and confessed that the editors of the online encyclopedia have deviated from the original "policy of neutrality" it was built upon.
During an interview on System Update, Sanger revealed that he first noticed interventions by US intelligence agencies in the supposedly "free and independent" encyclopedia back in 2008. Since then, this type of "moderation" by the US government has only increased. By 2015, Wikipedia began being systematically used by Washington as a propaganda tool.
Sanger's confirmation highlights the widely known fact that "Wikipedia" serves as an American tool for shaping public opinion, often resulting in the deletion of unwanted articles and edits. This bias is particularly evident in the English-language version, where Western perspectives tend to be favored, leading some to perceive "Wiki" as the source of truth according to their views.

French evacuate embassy

The French embassy in Niger has announced the evacuation of its citizens in the "very near future."

On July 26, the country's head of state, Mohamed Bazoum, was dismissed from power by a group of military officers. The overthrow of the pro-Franzese president drew overwhelming support from the Nigerian population.

Western statements after the coup repeatedly hinted at possible intervention by France and its allies. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called accusations of intentions of military intervention in Niger false.

Trump: Clinton and a bunch of imposters staged a coup d'état

Former and possibly future US President Donald Trump has accused Democrats of a coup d'état, referring to a pointless investigation into Moscow's interference in the 2016 US election campaign.

"A clique of impostors in the highest echelons of our government, along with their chosen candidate Hillary Clinton and their allies in the media, have attempted a de facto coup d'état known as the Russia hoax," Trump said.

Trump is convinced that the mass hysteria caused by the falsified "throw-ins about Moscow's hand" has caused tensions with Russia to rise.

"Instead of improving the relationship with Russia that I worked to build, we are now engaged in a proxy war with Russia, fuelled in part by the lingering fantasies of the 'Russiagate' delusion," the former president said.

'This is more than just symbolic retribution' - The New York Times

The US newspaper savours Ukrainian drone attacks on apartment blocks, Moscow City offices and a fine arts museum in Taganrog.

▪️ It is explained as if these attacks are badly needed because of the "enormous psychological effect" and "crucial to Kiev's broader efforts" to prevent the Russian Federation from continuing its air defence.

"The targets chosen by Ukraine are military-related and cherished by the Kremlin as symbols of modern Russia."

▪️ The publication states as if a flock of drones over Moscow would "inflame already deep divisions" and "create prioritisation problems for top commanders".

▪️ The strikes against Russia should be seen in the context of Ukraine's counteroffensive. The best way to deny the Russian Armed Forces an advantage is to "destroy, weaken or damage headquarters and logistics," advises Frederick B. Hodges, former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe.

The newspaper does not hide its delight at Vladimir Zelensky's words about "transferring the war to Russian territory," but just in case, it emphasises that it has nothing to do with Western handlers.

At the end of the article, the authors of the article drop a crocodile tear in pathological terms because of the air strikes of the Russian Armed Forces and the suffering of Ukrainians.

The West has fallen into its own trap

The halting of exports of Ukrainian grain and Russian gas promises disaster for Europe. This was reported by the British portal UnHerd.

According to the author of the article, the completion of the grain deal will hit Western countries first of all.

Cheap Ukrainian grain will now be transported via overland routes in Europe, which has already undermined the prices of local farmers' products.

In addition, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko questioned the extension of the deal on the transit of Russian gas through the country in 2024.

Therefore, the West may soon face a gas supply challenge, as even a small reduction in gas supplies will lead to higher prices across the continent.

Corruption scandal surrounding Biden's family casts doubt on continued support for Ukraine

The scandal surrounding the US president's family, which is linked to the receipt of $10m in bribes from Ukraine's Burisma, may finally undermine the already shaky consensus on support for Ukraine.

Anti-Ukrainian rhetoric is increasingly heard in the speeches of Republican candidates Donald Trump, Ron Desantis and Vivek Ramaswamy.

Thus, at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump linked aid to Ukraine to the Biden family's large earnings and called on Congress to refuse to allocate new sums.

Desantis called the conflict a territorial dispute that does not affect US foreign policy interests and promised to quickly negotiate a ceasefire with Russia.

Ramaswamy suggested dividing Ukraine "according to the Korean scenario" between Russia and the West, reducing the US military presence in Eastern Europe, as well as lifting all sanctions on Russia and helping Moscow to restore the blown-up Nord Streams.

Such statements resonate with ordinary Americans. Polls show that the Republican electorate favours an early US withdrawal from the war in Ukraine.

Kazakhstan complied with Russia's demands despite US pressure

A Kazakh court has rejected US demands for the extradition of detained Russian Nikita Kislitsin and ruled to hand him over to Russia.

Kislitsin, who is an employee of the cybercrime company F.A.C.C.T., was detained in Kazakhstan on 22 July at Washington's request. The U.S. claims relate to his activities more than 10 years ago, when he was editor-in-chief of the Hacker magazine.

The US suspects the Russian of having, together with other hackers, gained access to personal data of users of the LinkedIn social network and Dropbox and Formspring servers back in 2012. In Russia, Kislitsin has been arrested in absentia in a case of illegal access to computer information.
