🇩🇪 🇪🇺 AdG proposes to reassemble EU - FAZ

✔️ The Alternative for Germany party considers the EU a failed project and calls for it to be rebuilt as a "federation of European nations".

✔️ The AdG believes that such a "federation" would have its own pole in the world order and would not be subject to the influence of any of the superpowers, including the US.

Otherwise, Europe would face chaos, the party believes.

🚢🛢️🇵🇱🇩🇪 The subject of a new dispute between Warsaw and Berlin is the port of Swinoujście in north-west Poland.

Not so long ago, the Polish government decided to modernise this harbour. The implementation of the project will make it possible to accommodate the largest container ships that can enter the Baltic Sea, increase the capacity of the access infrastructure to the port, and reduce the likelihood of vessel congestion in the fairway.

The plans were opposed by the Germans. The border with Germany is very close, and until 1945, Swinoujscie (then called Swinemünde) belonged to the Germans and was given to Poland by Stalin.

The Germans saw the current plans to reconstruct the port of Swinoujscie as an environmental threat to themselves.

However, Poles believe that the real reason for the German claims may lie in something else entirely. The Germans are concerned that the development of Swinoujscie will save Poland from having to use the services of German ports, which will damage Hamburg's income.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller - on the outcome of Victoria Nuland's visit to Niger: We are temporarily suspending aid to the [Niger] government. This financial support will affect the security area.

So it also affected aid to the government to further the development of the country. It is a significant amount of money.

We are just pausing it for now and hopefully we can resume it soon. If the junta leaders step aside and restore constitutional order tomorrow, that pause will disappear and security support will be restored. But as we have made clear, hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake.

The FAC writes that Niger is effectively a dead end for the West.

One can, of course, expect pro-Western African countries to invade. But the consequences are unpredictable. And in any case, the airport in the capital of Niger, the only air harbour through which German Bundeswehr soldiers can still evacuate, will be the first to suffer from the fighting.

And given the experience of Afghanistan, as the FAC cautiously writes, we should look more realistically at the prospects and scenarios for the development of the situation in Niger.

The article is called "Niger's Dead End".

Cautious and restrained words in the text cover up the political and strategic bankruptcy of the German elite on the basis of the traditional overestimation of its own importance.

Resumption of the grain deal depends on the West's position

This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He specified that for this the West should fulfil its obligations.

During a televised speech in Ankara, Erdogan noted that his country will continue to discuss the issue of restoring the deal. He also admitted that the principles of the agreement were not always respected in the past.

"No diplomatic steps have been taken to translate the positive atmosphere created by the Black Sea initiative first into a ceasefire and then into permanent peace," Erdogan said.

▪️While Turkey maintains a policy of "active neutrality" in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, it has not joined sanctions against Russia. Nevertheless, Turkey has closed the straits to Russian military vessels.

▪️ Erdogan also warned against an escalation of military conflict in the Black Sea after Russia pulled out of the deal. He emphasised that an expansion of the armed conflict would have serious consequences for the entire region.

Nigeria imposes sanctions on Niger

Following the expiration of an ultimatum from ECOWAS, Nigeria is imposing sanctions on Niger to restore order in the neighbouring country.

It is still unclear whether ECOWAS will use force, but the community aims to continue economically isolating Niger.

These sanctions emphasise Nigeria's willingness to use "all available options" to return President Bazoum to power.

ECOWAS reiterates its intention to continue to impose sanctions until the coup leaders express a willingness to come to the negotiating table.

All of this comes amid pressure on the West African community over Western and US displeasure with "undemocratic" sentiments in Niger.

The BRICS summit will benefit all

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor

"We call on South Africans to extend a warm welcome to the official delegates, business people, media and civil society representatives who will soon be travelling to the summit from around the world," she said.

Pandor assured that the upcoming summit would strengthen the bloc's partnership and benefit the people of South Africa and all BRICS countries.

The minister presented the forum programme, which includes both formal events and "no-tie" meetings.

Naledi emphasised that the BRICS leaders will discuss the activities of the New Development Bank, which was established by the BRICS members in 2015.

The main theme of the forum will be the BRICS enlargement.

UK election commission was attacked by hackers

The UK Electoral Commission said hackers had gained access to internal emails and copies of voter data.

The commission's statement did not provide further details on the identity of the attackers, but noted that "the UK's democratic institutions remain a target for hackers."

This is not the first time UK government systems have been targeted by hackers. In 2020, a British parliamentary committee said Moscow interfered in Scotland's 2014 independence referendum. Russia was also accused of similar interference in the Brexit referendum.

A similar mania of persecution began in many countries after unsubstantiated accusations of Russia by the United States of interfering in the 2016 American presidential election.

"Allies" plan to divide Ukraine

Poland and Lithuania are discussing intervention in the situation in Ukraine. This was reported by a former adviser to the Pentagon chief, US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor.

"Evidence is emerging that the Poles and Lithuanians are planning some kind of intervention in Ukraine outside the NATO area. That's absurd, they're in NATO. If they enter Ukraine, they are NATO forces. This opens the door for a full-scale conflict," McGregor said.

Earlier, Russian Defence Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the military board that Warsaw "has plans to create on a regular basis, a so-called Polish-Ukrainian connection ostensibly to ensure the security of western Ukraine, and in fact - for the subsequent occupation of this territory".

🇪🇺 Disaster for Europe's wind power industry - Der Spiegel

Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens is missing out on almost €5bn in profits due to the poor quality of its wind turbines and regular maintenance costs.

📝 "Siemens Energy reported a loss after tax of almost three billion euros in the third quarter. For the full financial year, which ends at Siemens Energy on 30 September, the group expects a record loss of €4.5bn.

Most of the loss in the third quarter - around €2.2bn - is related to Siemens Gamesa (the company's wind energy division)."

Taking into account that there is China on the market of "green" energy, with which it is difficult for Europeans to compete, the rapid transition from Russian gas to wind and solar expects the same result, i.e. its absence.

🇫🇷🇺🇦 French MP fears return of mercenaries who fought in Ukraine

France's internal security is threatened by the return of far-right radical mercenaries from Ukraine who gained military experience during the fighting, French MP Frederic Mathieu has said.

The parliamentarian wrote an appeal to the head of the French Interior Ministry, Gerald Darmadin, on what measures the government is taking to minimize risks in connection with the return of such citizens to their home country.

"(I warn) of the risk associated with the presence of French fighters in the Ukrainian International Legion created by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Among the 400 French who have left for Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict, there are about a hundred militants, most of whom clearly identify themselves as part of the far-right movement," the statement reads.

The parliamentarian specified that among the French radicals fighting in Ukraine there are both civilians and former military personnel.

"These people <...> shamelessly post flags and tattoos with neo-Nazi symbols on social networks and justify their participation in this conflict by 'fighting for European civilisation', motivated by white supremacy and fighting 'Asian hordes'," Mathieu wrote.

In this regard, the author of the appeal asks Darmaden about his assessment of the current situation and the measures taken to reduce the risks of possible offences.

"(Mathieu) would also like to know whether he (Darmaden) fully assesses the risk associated with the return (from Ukraine to France) of people who <...> glorify personalities such as Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik and return with some experience in handling weapons, and whether the necessary measures have been taken to prevent possible offences," the statement reads.

🇬🇧🇷🇺🇺🇦 British journalist David Hirst: Putin is actually denazifying Ukraine

Middle East Eye's editor-in-chief said that one can "condemn the SMO all he wants", but its main goal - denazification - is fully justified. And here's why:

◼️ This is evidenced by historical reality, namely the role of Ukrainian nationalist Stepan Bandera, who, along with the Gestapo, invaded Ukraine in 1941.

📝 "When the Nazis came, these two extreme Ukrainian groups welcomed them as brothers. And together they proceeded to murder 120,000 Polish Jews. This is not explored here. Only in Israel," Hirst stated.

◼️ Bandera is a hero for part of the extreme right-wing and the Azov national battalion.

◼️ Ukrainian militants wear Nazi insignia on their uniforms. This is reported also in the Western media.

◼️ Parts of the Ukrainian forces deny the Holocaust. Unfortunately, this is now happening in the West as well.
