Congress urges Joe Biden to pay attention to the problems inside the country instead of spending money on Ukraine.
A member of the US House of Representatives, Marjorie Taylor-Green, said that "more than 300 US citizens die every day because of Joe Biden's border policy".
In her opinion, it is unacceptable to continue financing Ukraine amid high inflation, a large national debt and a growing number of homeless people in the country.
"In such a situation, we cannot afford to send another $40bn to Ukraine," she emphasised.
Republican Congressman Paul Gosar also supported his colleague's opinion and urged Biden to "pay attention to solving problems inside the country, especially in the area of securing the southern border, through which hundreds of thousands of infiltrators illegally enter."
Earlier, the US president asked Congress to provide Ukraine with an additional $24bn.
