US Air Force General James Hecker stated in an interview with Business Insider that those who expect the AFU to take the initiative on the battlefield after receiving F-16 fighter jets will be disappointed.
He noted that the planes will not be a "silver bullet" for Kyiv, as Russian forces will be able to adapt to their appearance and successfully combat the F-16s.
"You can't get close enough on an F-16 because you will be shot down by one of the surface-to-air missiles," Hecker explained.
The general reminded that the training of Ukrainian pilots will take at least a year, so the AFU will not see any fighter jets for a very long time.
